Mounties try to usher beaver off B.C. highway

It doesn’t get more Canadian than this.

The RCMP briefly shut down a lane of the Trans-Canada Highway in Vancouver Island Friday to let a beaver cross the road.

According to CTV Vancouver Island, highway patrol officers spotted a motorcyclist trying to slow down the stretch of highway — known as the Malahut. As RCMP officers went to see what the commotion was all about, they found Canada’s national symbol blocking two lanes of traffic.

The biker was trying to usher the stubborn beaver off the highway.

The mounties even tried to faze the creature by turning on its sirens and driving their cruiser towards it to scare it off the road.

Moments later, the critter waddled away into an undergrowth on the side of the road and police re-opened the highway.

If that beaver was wearing skates while carrying a bottle of maple syrup, this would absolutely be the most Canadian story of all time.

Love it. I was thinking the same thing. Cruz needs a Mountie chaperone.

I guess it would have been too much to ask of the LEOs to give up one of their Tim Horton donuts to try to lure the rodent off the road?

A Cheese Danish, perhaps?

Misleading headline. At first glance, I thought Hillary was in Canada flashing her qualifications to be president.
