I’ve read about snipers on “one man missions” i.e.) Carlos Hathcock, but is it common for special operations soldiers? Doesn’t complexity of most missions means that more than 1 person is necessary? I thought at least 4 man hunter teams were the norm?

I have no personal knowledge of this - just what I read, so would be interested to hear from those who do.

but is it common for special operations soldiers?......Depending on their mission. We picked up a wounded pilot (half dead) and the SF walked to LZ in combat boots and swim trunks. He saluted us, turned back into the bush and took his ten Montagnards back into it. He was kinda alone, I think. Real tough hero I always felt.

Forward Air Controllers frequently work alone.

A fellow down the block from Mr was a one man sniper that would get a mission and be gone for weeks.
I can see the Russians doing this one man team stuff.
