Rockefellers Divest From Exxon: Planet Is Saved!
Forbes ^ | 3-24-2016 | Michael Lynch

Posted on 03/24/2016 5:18:36 AM PDT by Citizen Zed

Exxon’s stock price will see no major impact, the company’s behavior is unlikely to change (at least, I hope so), and there is absolutely no connection between oil company equity prices and the world’s emissions of greenhouse gases.

If the Rockefellers and their supporters want to accomplish something, offer a prize for new, low-carbon energy sources or methods of carbon sequestration. Lobby for a carbon tax, and price reform in the many countries with subsidies for fossil fuel use. Pressure the Russians to lower prices for natural gas, especially to China. Invest in a gas pipeline to India from the Caspian area. Divesting their investment in Exxon (and similar companies, one presumes) and sending out press releases are all too typical moves that look good but avoid real action or effort. These types of moves are only one step up from Hollywood stars and politicians who live luxurious lifestyles but promote simplicity. (I’m talking to you, Al and Leo.)

Carbon sequestration ... great idea, sequester it all and kill off all plant life and starve the animal life out of existence. The people who believe in this bulls#!+ may be ignorant, stupid, easily led, and/or naive, but the source of the movement has a more than faint aroma of brimstone.

That means no more private jets and yachts, right?

So Forbes responds to a completely meaningless gesture with a completely meaningless set of recommendations. And it's all about someone else’s money.

Simply marvelous.

I wonder if Old John D. is looking down or up in amazement.
My guess is he is spinning in his grave.

Talk about biting the hand that has fed you for over a century.

My thoughts exactly. I am sure Mr. Tillerson lost a lot of sleep last night with that report. /s.

And actually this is good news, as the Rockefellers will have no more legacy claims to spew left leaning whines against one of the best run companies in the country.

Actually XOM got into hot water with the clintons when they discontinued donations (shake down) to the Clinton Foundation.

Right after this happened, one of Hitlerly's lackeys , the State of NY AG,brought suit against XOM for climate change. And holy Moley, it just happened again in CA.

Amazing isn't it?

Principled?
Did you forget, we are talking about Trust Funders here.
Thanks to Old J D, they and their decedents never have and never will have to earn their daily bread. So they are free to trash him. But never ever give up a dime of that fund. Just a few percent of it’s earning. Damn few.

Isn’t that what happened during the Ice Age? You know, before mankind existed and drove around in SUVs?
