Don’t bet on it... The idea that if the GOPe rally’s behind Rubio in a 2 man race, that Rubio wins is not supported by facts at this point.
The assumption all of Cruz’s supporters would go Rubio is a huge myth. Combine that with the fact that Cruz and Rubio combined generally are polling under 40% in most national polls, doesn’t bode to Cruz dropping = Rubio will win.
Time will tell. Cruz endorcing Rubio will probably anger a good segment of his backers who honestly thought he was a principled conservative, and anti amnesty... yet if he endorces Rubio he shows that he isn’t and that segment of his support will either stay home or go elsewhere.
Or, this is an unfounded rumor with Super Tuesday this morning.
Or, my pipe dream, the GOPe got together with their Democrat allies and convinced them that Cruz would agree to endorse Rubio in return for a SCOTUS appointment. After all, this could be a win-win. Cruz would be only one of nine votes and represent no change in the current court. Hillary has a better chance of running against a putz like Rubio who she can easily beat. The U.S. Senate gets rid of a watchdog whom most never liked.
