No offense taken. I use inReach a lot so my view is probably skewed. It is an invaluable tool for my recreation and hobby needs.

It's an interesting point. For me GPS is just too good to not use it as a primary. However, it may be impossible to maintain proper proficiency with older practices of navigation if I do so, which leaves me vulnerable.
