No, Daddy’s outfit was a bastard battalion. They were not assigned to any army.

He did say they were put under Montgomery during the Battle of the Bulge.

Okay, it explains his fondness for Montgomery who never moved without overwhelming odds in his favor. Your father probably admired Patton for his daring and his relentless drive always in it with his men. I’ve visited Bastogne and the surrounding area. The scars of war are still there. It’s an awesome place.
