No, because they must be RECHARGED by a power plant. Many of them are burning coal in their boilers to heat the water into steam to drive the generating turbines. Essentially, the electric car runs on coal power and not electricity.

Really quite simple. Those who like electric cars should put up their own money and buy them. Those who like diesel, or natural gas, or gasoline or ethanol...or bicycle... should buy what they like.
In a democracy we vote with our feet and with our pocket books. To do otherwise is undemocratic.
