Former NFL player Bill Romanowski still hasn't learned to keep his mouth shut.
After Panthers quarterback Cam Newton aburptly walked out on his postgame press conference, Romanowski tweeted: "You will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn't revolve around you, boy!"
Romanowski's use of the word "boy" â a racially inflammatory term â was met with heavy criticism, including from some African-American athletes.
Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson tweeted at Romanowksi, "Boy? You never watched Good Times Bill?"

Former Bengals cornerback Rico Murray added, "Cam needs to bite the bullet and take what's coming. But @billromanowksi is a disgrace."

I have seen better behavior from children after losses.
Right word was “dude”
Boy, it must be scary to be a black man in the US. Even if you are 200+ lbs with an arm like a rifle, you have to be worried about boys, apes, monkeys, food like bananas, watermelon, and fried chicken, people wearing shoe polish, and micro aggressions. Hopefully liberals can find Cam a safe space.
Exactly!
25 years ago I would have had a Super Bowl party. This year, I would not even have known the game was happening if my daughter hadn’t told me in a text.
Due to repetitive incidents like this, millions of us gave up on the sport.
Probably sound advice, but it's going to cut way down on my participation here.
Newton is a child. Certainly acted like one.
Waiting for Beyoncé to apologize for her offensive video/song at the super bowl
Thank you for your response. I probably grew up in a similar place as you. Things are different than when we were kids.
Well, regardless of ethnicity, he acted like a little boy.
I am so sick of the race card that I am happily boycotting anything associated with the black race.
Until they clean up their own house, I have no use for them all!
In southern Indiana where I grew up we called all guys boys, i.e. ‘The boys and I are going to go shoot some hoops’, ‘What did you boys do this weekend’. Get over yourself twitter world.
Romanowski 49 Newton 26. You do the math..........
The press conference did exactly wht it needed to do: Show Newton as a petulant child who is a poor loser. He needed to be gracious, admit lesser performance and congratulate the victors. It showed what football has become.
Football used to be a thinking man’s game. Opposing warriors who respected each other. Now it’s increasingly about thugs who just brutalize people and act like children making millions of dollars per year. The NFL needs to have maturity training as well as blocking and tackling drills. Mr. Newton’s comeuppance needs to be had by expurgating him from the team and NO ONE else to hire him. And put Johnny Manzeil on the same travel plan.
The NFL could be great once again. But it will take wholesale housecleaning to make it what it used to be.
One of our younger relatives was a really good wrestler in high school. He played varsity football for a couple of years as a linebacker and as a safety, who taught pass receivers quickly not to come his way.
When his coaches asked him to play running back, he said no thank you, and told the coaches, It is better to give than to receive!
He's 26 years old. That's and E-5 SGT or an E-6 SSGT, or O2 1LT or O3 CAPT. IOW, a real leader of men, with real responsibility, real authority, and the expectation that he should act accordingly.
It took watching ‘Grand Torino” before I realized I should stop saying “rice burner” — and I am not nearly as old as Clint.
No doubt Mr Romanowsky, who would do what it takes to win, including spitting in opponents’ faces, is concerned very much about the reaction to his tweet.
LOL Good thing he didn't call the boy a thug.
I didn’t see what he had to apologize for, Newton was acting like a child, I understood the context.
