Meet young Australian Muslim teen Stephanie Kurlow who hopes to become first hijabi ballerina.
Kurlow, 14, embraced Islam along with her siblings, Australian father and Russian-born mother in 2010 and had initially feared the religion might derail her dream of dancing.
“I think that’s what may have stopped some other Muslims from following a career they want, but I know what I’m doing is right and I’m going to keep doing it,†she told the Sydney Morning herald when asked whether she thought Islam forbade dancing.
Kurlow hopes to turn her dream into reality by raising $10,000 to train full-time at ballet school. She also hopes to become certified to open her own performing arts school in Sydney.
“Dancing is like flying for me. It makes me feel free,†Kurlow told the Daily News website.
Hard to do with a burka on.
Hopefully none of her performances will occur during those ‘holy’ 5 times a day prayers.

I interviewed a job applicant earlier in the week for an electronics technician position. About a half hour into the interview he needed to pray for 5 or 6 minutes. Thank God he wasn’t the most qualified of the applicants for the job.
I read the headline real fast and thought for a second it was referring to Marco Rubio.
I wonder what form of Islam she and her family “embraced.” There seems to be one form that is popular among Western liberals, in which Islam is ultimately peaceful and embraces all of the liberal utopian ideals, and the other forms that real people born to Islam practice.
I’ll bet anything they converted to the touchy-feely version of Islam that only exists in western liberal minds.
Hmm... if she ever gets the chance to go on the Hajj (as muslims are supposed to do once in their lifetime), it might even be an eye-opening experience. Islam doesn’t treat women very well, especially if they commit outrageous crimes like dancing.

I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. Wearing a burka yea, I doubt one can even dance in a burka. She looks very professional.

If they throw acid in the faces of girls who just try to attend school, imagine what they'll do to ballerinas.
On the other hand, the more individual Muslims start agitating for western freedoms, the more difficulty their barbaric leaders will have in controlling them. "Mass stoning to death of 10,000 people convicted of drinking, dancing, adultery, homosexuality, leaving the house without permission, driving, talking back, sassing their elders, missing prayers due to hangover, or applying to become interior decorators will begin at midnight.
