Schlafly unloads on Rubio: 'He betrayed us all'

In 2009, Marco Rubio was a plucky challenger for the open Senate in Florida, taking on incumbent Republican Gov. Charlie Crist. Though Rubio was trailing in the polls, one leading conservative activist thought that he had real potential and vowed to help him.

“When Marco Rubio ran for the Senate in Florida, I think I was the first one to endorse him,” said Phyllis Schlafly. “I made a trip down to Florida in 2009 just for the purpose of helping him.”

But Schlafly, a legendary conservative activist, author, and WND columnist, now says she is bitterly disappointed by Rubio’s record once he got what he wanted.

“Once he got elected, he betrayed us all,” she told WND. “He said he was against amnesty and against the establishment. And once he got in, right away, he became an agent of the establishment. And now of course he’s big for amnesty and letting all the illegal immigrants in. He betrayed us a number of times on that issue.”

Schlafly said she was startled at the magnitude of Rubio’s “betrayal” on amnesty.

“It was so public,” she said.

>>Limbaugh says Barak O’Rubio is a “full-throated conservative.” Who you gonna believe, GOPe Rush or Scholarly?

I do not understand Rush’s patronizing a ‘gang of eight’ sellout when we have a proven solid conservative in Cruz. Rush has been pimping this RINO all week.

We didn’t get the full flavor of the illegal inundation until the early 2000’s here in Virginia. I saw what it was doing to Texas, Arizona and California before that.
I was cheering for you with Prop 187. After that was shot down, sadly, it was over for California.
It may be too late for the rest of the country.

They lack the spirit of the founding fathers

They also lack the natural born citizen part of the requirements to be President.

No, the complaint about Rubio is he is not on the side of the citizens and the rule of law. He is on the side of the fraudulently documented foreigners and their employers.
He lies constantly.
He lied to get elected.
He lied about what was in the Gang bill.
He lied about changing his mind.

He’s a backstabber.

Never give more knives to backstabbers.

Or maybe Rush’s bank account sees something Mrs. Schlafley’s doesn’t.

That's it!   The donors are influencing the radio hosts too!

But what can realistically be done to stop this donor influence?   What can FReepers do to help clean up talk radio?   Maybe push for greater transparency on where advertising comes from?   Anybody got any ideas?

He might nominate Ted Cruz

lame excuses for a lifetime of Dem donations and advocacy.

Trump is a businessman. He was looking out for NY state and NYC, which is represented by Dems. What was he supposed to do?

what exactly made trump realize he was now against a lifetime of liberalism...mystery that!!!

Have you seen Trump's videos from the 80s where he was proficient in seeing the decline of the U.S. from bad trade deals and open borders? His past liberalism is not germane to what's going on and what he wants to do to solve it.

And Carson talks too slow. He is a little like Al Gore in that. You feel like you are in grade school.

Rubio, on the other hand talks too fast. You feel like he is out to scam you (and he is).

Every great movement starts as a crusade, becomes a business, and ends as a scam.

Phyllis Schlafly was a conservative from the time of Barry Goldwater, when that was a very lonely place to be. Conservatives organized with newsletters and small circulation magazines. It was a crusade that ultimately elected Ronald Reagan.

After Reagan got elected everyone wanted to get in on the action and call themselves “conservative”. There was money and power in being part of Conservatism, Inc. and all sorts of opportunists showed up. Even National Review, once the flagship of conservative magazines, transformed itself as the old crusaders retired and the new Conservatism, Inc. crowd took charge.

Well now we are even farther down the road, and the business of Conservatism, Inc. is well into the scam portion of the timeline. And our ambitious and opportunistic open borders boy wonder Marco Rubio is the perfect exemplar of scam stage multicultural no borders “conservatism.” Sic transit gloria mundi.

“In eastern Pennsylvania, all we can get is Rush, Hannity, Levin, and Savage. “

It could be worse. You could have Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt.

Schlafly ran for Congress in 1952 and again in 1970, both in IL. She was with the Taft forces I believe too. She returned to her native MO when her husband died.

Schlafly is the real deal, not in it for fame or fortune.

Unlike our current celebrity “conservatives” who seem to be in for their own benefit.

Trump is the mother-of-all flip-floppers. Cruz is a consistent conservative. No comparison. Rubio, too, is a flip-flopper.

Flip-flopping and lying go hand in hand. It robs the voters of their representation.
