Why are we listing men like Washington. If we had to wait for a leader to be born on US soil at the time we became a sovereign nation, we would have had no president for at least the first 35 years. There was no sovereign US to born in when founding fathers were born.

Apparently you have read the following from the Constitution or perhaps you have read it but forgot or did not understand the accounting for those citizens at the time of this document. Oh yeah, it doesn’t work pout to 35 years, it works out to 14 years. Please read below:

Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for serving as president of the United States, under clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

I do appreciate your response and your opinion on the subject and I welcome any future responses as well. Good Day and GOD Bless.

Yes I had both read and understood the Constitution, my comment was because countless times on the forum people have listed the Founders names with no mention of the Constitution specifically stating “a citizen at the Adoption”. However I did neglect to add the 35 years of age and a 14 year resident portion. I had thought some might rethink listing them. In retrospect I can see how the incomplete answer might appear a silly comment.

Thanks for a courteous reply instead of the rudeness that has at times been shown. I have used FR as a research source for years and do appreciate that you politely made an effort to provide information you thought I might not have known.
