My problem with Linux has always been installing hardware. I haven’t tried it in several years...have they improved that to the level of Windows or OSX?
Don’t start with that “open the terminal and enter...” crap. If you have to type command lines to do anything, it ain’t ready for prime time.
It's tons better than it was even just a few years ago. And no you don't have to do anything at the command line. It's through the desktop GUI 99 times out of 100 (there'll always be somebody new who hasn't got their GUI going yet).
It has improved LIGHTYEARS to how it used to be...
Just run a livedisk to try it out. If you don’t like it, then move on.. but, I think you will see the difference.. Like I mentioned earlier, I had wiped Win7 and had Mint 17.3 installed in less than 20 minutes on a used laptop.
As long as you have Internet connection while you are installing, the drivers install flawlessly (with no need of a console (or console commands)). :^)
