I highly recommend his autobiography, “Life”.

When I first told my wife my grandfather lived to 98 she kind of just groaned - never could figure out why - lol

He always seemed to talk down alcohol and cocaine. These are the truly bad drugs. At the same time he was an advocate of marijuana, and hallucinogenic drugs. Go figure.

I’ve always considered him the father of rock rhythm guitar. No long soaring lead lines, just incredibly effective chording and effects often with Marshall amps.

Hippies mostly wanted to be left alone to do their own thing.

Are you telling me he was never addicted to heroin? Because if that’s true, none of the image is true, he’s just an old guy who’s face got wrinkled early.

But others wanted to go out and spit on people and make people afraid of the so-called hippies.

I saw Kantner at The Saloon in San Francisco one Sunday afternoon, they always had good oldish musicians in there on stage, he walked in same as your story, sat down at the bar started chatting up with everyone most knew who he was but did not pester him. Nice guy hung out 20-30 minutes.

Yeah, I need to read it. I was so pissed at him when I found out he was into junk,,,,,, but he’s still here! Look at his gnarly hands! But he can still do it. Like I said, not that good of a guitar player, but still an abdo-lute monster!

Not too concerned about how long I live. My goal is to stay out of diapers.

I grew up with Merle Haggard, Buck and Bonnie Owens. My mom hired Merle to play in her bar when he was no one. First time I saw Buck and Bonnie was on the back of a flatbed truck playing a grocery store grand opening. Threw Merle out of the bar I worked in one night because he was so drunk he was obnoxious to my waitresses It was way after he was famous and he kept yelling......you won’t throw ME out. Lol. If a friend and I were out drinking we would have to ditch his Aunt Bonnie because she wanted to go everywhere with us and cry in her beer about her one true love Merle.
Yeah I’m kind of hard to impress. Lol

They probably like being treated like real people. Most of the celebs I knew like Merle and Buck were just normal people here in their home town.
