Remember when those FBI guys had their MP5's taken from their Suburban while they ate lunch?

Were they fired for that? They should be. Everyone makes mistakes. losing a weapon, however, is a mistake they are not allowed to make.

If I left one of my NFA weapons in my car unattended and it got stolen, the ATF would crucify me.

I worked with Ashcroft’s FBI protective detail every day for 3 years after 9/11. Locking the bigger guns up in the Suburban while going for lunch or is standard procedure, so unless they failed to lock up properly, no, they wouldn’t have been penalized.
