Vanity: I am so sick of the lack of logic used on FR these days.

I am so sick of the lack of logic used on Free Republic when some argue either for or against Trump or Ted Cruz whom I do not support, or at least a declaratory opinion/argument by a creeper who AT LEAST explains his or her line of reasoning/thinking.

All of the blustern(either made up in someone's mind) or taken directly from either of the campaigns (which are not based ON ANY evidence other than the candidate or a surrogate's opinions are worth NOTHING).

As conservatives, libertarians, tea partiers, Christians, constitutionalists, nationalists/Proud Americans, Republicans, yes even some moderates, shouldn't we at least try to elevate the conversation when we debate? Let's try out reason, logic, respect and facts, huh?

While we're at it can we cut out the snark, name calling and personal attacks that have become the norm around here just because someone supports a candidate you don't like! I'll admit that I am not guilt free on this charge, and to anyone I have personally offended occasionally either intentionally or not I ask forgiveness. I try to keep my conversations civil as both a. Christian and conservative.

And when it came to the general election. when Conservatives had a binary choice between Romney and Obama, by sitting home some helped choose Obama.

Does anyone really think Romney would have opened our borders, abandoned Israel, tried to outlaw all guns, appointed the super liberal judges Obama does, reduced our military to a point of ineffectiveness, etc.

Romney was far from perfect, but Crybaby Conservatives helped us get another four years of Obama.

Dems are not that stupid.

I understand both arguments. Probably so does every other smart FReeper. FReepers that don’t get it, well, we have to be kind to them because we have to be kind to people who need extra time or help. This is not only a site for geniuses and that is ok. We aren’t elitist.

But I agree, we should be explaining why we think a certain way. Help those of us understand. There are some very young or very hard working busy people who don’t get it yet.

Here are the basic two arguments:

TRUMP:
Both parties are messed up. It seems a cabal of greedy people are running this country without any thought to the People they are supposed to be representing. Nothing we ever do, election after election, changes this, including electing an apparent conservative. The media rules over us and controls us. We know they are lying but we are powerless to fight them. Trump comes along, not of the cabal, independently wealthy, says he is going to clean this mess up, and make America great again, and even in his campaign he proves this by not taking the ruling media’s guff. He says it like it is; he has already visibly loosened the hold the media has on us, and he is daring to speak the words we’ve longed to discuss re illegal immigration and Islamic terror. He has a great chance to win this thing.

CRUZ:
Senator Cruz is a proven Conservative. We all said last year, we would rather see Hillary win than vote for a GOPe again. He isn’t completely of the cabal because the GOPe hates him too. Even if he doesn’t win, slowly the country will turn to despise the hold the progressive cabal has on us, and eventually we WILL win elections on the basis of our ideas alone. I’m good for my word and I will never vote for a flawed or non-conservative again. Period.

I understand both positions because I’ve held both.

Neither one makes you less of a child of Gd so drop the mud wrestling if you can. Insulting your opponents never (really, NEVER) brings them to your side. Careful explanation might.

I still remember the reaction of many here when I said in 2007 that supporting/nominating McCain was a huge disaster for the GOP and conservatives and that you may as well just vote For the Dem.

But see? That is exactly what I was saying in my previous, above. Some FReepers are not wise enough yet. I wasn’t. We need to patiently explain over and over like to children sometimes. I wasn’t even ready for that line of thinking until about 2014.

...when Conservatives had a binary choice between Romney and Obama, by sitting home some helped choose Obama.

You're assigning cause to the wrong group, as Romney apologists have been doing since he (predictably) lost to Obama.

The fault wasn't with the voters. They were handed a crap sandwich by the national GOP-e, who pulled every rotten trick in the book to get their globalist liberal nominated.

Mitt was a stinkbug of the First Order, which few, except some die-hard Romney supporters, dispute. His record of governance while Governor of Massachusetts was something that would make any socialist lib blush with pride.

Don't make me re-post his record, as I've done on this site a hundred times before.

The establishment may as well have nominated Hillary. What were prinicpled NORMAL Americans supposed to do? Swarm to the polls to elect a man who, by every objective measure of his RECORD, would have performed little different than Obama has?

Spit....

Better to keep ones honor and personal integrity intact, and not bear the shame of having given into fear so badly, that you willingly voted for an abject LIBERAL.

Not only was that n00b tactless, he also kicked Jim's cat and spat on the living room floor.

No talent at all. He could'a lasted for years if he'd been a bit slicker.

Finally free of Romney after 2012 and will finally be free of Bush/Clinton after this year, the party is over for the Washingtonians

DC and the Federal government are not fixable by an insider or through any legislative process.

Scorched earth, it must be laid waste ,neutralized, and decimated.

It’s us, or them.

That's the primary reason I'm supporting Trump in this election. We need a big hammer like him to kick butt on the putrufied establishment - fearlessly and without mercy.

Despite some of the candidates having excellent qualities (for a politician), I have no confidence that any of them has what it takes to be a Patton in the White House. The country has tipped too far out of balance for a mere politician to do the foundational repairs needed to bring it back to level.

That's gonna take a fire breathing son-of-a-bitch with a real world record of busting down barriers to get the job done.

The problem was, and is, that you, and others who did not support him lost the battle for public opinion in the primaries. Romney won.

Romney was not “ordained” by the RNC. He won the primary elections.

In the 2012 General, you had a binary choice. Either Obama or Romney would be elected.

You chose to help Obama by not voting for Romney.

Sorry, but those are facts.

I don't recall telling you how I voted in 2012. You claim a fact not in evidence.

Romney was not "ordained" by the RNC. He won the primary elections.

BS. Free Republic documented all the dirty tricks the RNC pulled to maneuver Romney into the lead. That included shutting Palin and the Tea Party out of the convention. Go back and search the threads during that time period if you've forgotten.

As to your premise that Romney was a better choice than Obama, I reject that on its face, as I did throughout the 2012 campaign.

Every conservative who chose to believe that, did so on zero real world evidence.

When Romney called himself "severely conservative", frightened conservatives swallowed it, because they so badly wanted to assuage their consciences for supporting a man who has more in common with the liberal left, than the conservative right.

And they did this with Romney's dismal liberal record of failure right at their fingertips. For shame!

The truth is, normal, patriotic Americans were given NO choice in 2012. Romney and Obama were merely two opposing faces of the same evil coin.

If you do not understand that given the binary choice between Romney and Obama, one candidate was better than the other, we have nothing to discuss.

Wrong. Just hope and change of the Republican base. Nothing more.

When you see no difference between Obama and Romney, sorry, but you haven’t even bought an admission ticket to the argument.

Good night.

It's you who are without a ticket, friend.

Perhaps you weren't reading Free Republic for the six years between 2006 and 2012, when Romney's liberal record in office was researched, documented, discussed, and analyzed, down to the last dot.

As I said, you might want to go back and read threads about Romney from the 2008 election season to get a full helping of what that man did as Governor. It simply can't be argued that he was even slightly different than any liberal Democrat office holder.

If you want to repeat the meme that, "Well, at least he's not a crypto-Marxist-muslim like Obama", ok. You could probably make that stick.

Outside of that - in the political/governing sphere, which is where we elect presidents - and where we judge them on their performance in office, Mitt rates NO better than Obama does, in any way.

I was at the Freeper Ball where Gov. Mike Huckabee and his band- Capitol Offense played. Author Richard Poe was their selling his book, Hillary's Secret War. Great time! I can't remember if it was in 2001 or 2005? Lol. Dang ol' brain.

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee (center) performs with his band "Capitol Offense" at the Republican Party of Iowa's Lincoln Day Dinner on April 14, 2007.
