The conservative commentariat has imploded in dismay at Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Donald Trump in Iowa on Tuesday.
Fans of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) , Trump’s main rival in Iowa and beyond, were understandably dismayed.
But the reaction went far beyond that. Some said Palin betrayed her conservative principles by choosing a candidate whose conservatism is shallow at best. And some rehashed the personal attacks that have been a staple of the left.
In fact, Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Trump makes sense, and fits both her politics and her personality.

I think (jmo) that part of this is that she came when Cruz called and got him elected in Texas. And then found out that he was a Canadian citizen. She is strong on the constitution and probably (and rightly so) feels like she was played for political gain. She has also been friends with Trump for years and he has always stood by when everyone else was dumping on her.
Like I said, my opinion.
Are you sure she didn’t do that FOR Cruz? It looked like the first time Trump had ever been in a spot where he’s not the alpha wolf.
Palin endorsed Trump because she knows Trump can win.
Cruz simply can’t.
It's true! Timing is everything. Trump needs a boost to win Iowa. In two weeks' time, her value to Trump would have been much less.
If I were a Cruz fan I would have listened to Trump about all the DNC Lawsuit that are going to be filed and those dummy donors who gave him money.
Then who will you vote for? Hillary I suppose.
I saw about a 30 second clip this morning before I changed the channel. I need never hear another word from her.
What is it to you? Ever look at poll internals at the large percentage who say they will never vote for Trump?
28% in NH recently? Cruz beat Trump head to head by 8 points in a NH poll recently.

what in the hell has Sarah ever done to you haters? She isn’t like you? SO? Give her a freakin break... the media and the left have tried their best to destroy her.. Are you from that tribe? Or do you get your jollies by crucifying her again and again.
I agree, that was certainly one reason. Another could be she recognizes that Teddy has ultra rich donors funding his campaign, and therefore he will not necessarily prefer the patriotic agenda over the cheap labor express agenda. If Sarah Palin is nothing else, she is class A patriot.

(in this case Cruz was scorned for 2016 run after supporting him in his last senate election)
