The defense secretary is looking to clamp down on misbehaving generals. Pentagon insiders say Petraeus could be the next general to face the consequences.
The Pentagon is considering retroactively demoting retired Gen. David Petraeus after he admitted to giving classified information to his biographer and mistress while he was still in uniform, three people with knowledge of the matter told The Daily Beast.
The decision now rests with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, who is said to be willing to consider overruling an earlier recommendation by the Army that Petraeus not have his rank reduced. Such a demotion could cost the storied general hundreds of thousands of dollarsâand deal an additional blow to his once-pristine reputation.

Will Hillary get demoted for the same offense that cost lives?
When I entered service in ‘74, my gross monthly pay was $326.
I wonder what Hillary thinks about this?

According to Sharyl Atkisson's report:
ff 00:24 "in recent days The House Benghazi Committee heard from key figures in closed door testimony. They include Former CIA Director, DAVID PETRAEUS and Former Defense Secretary, LEON PANETTA. Later this week they'll hear from a third official that few have probably heard of. JEREMY BASH, Former Defense Department Chief of Staff, whose e-mail happens to be essential to our report today.

Over 200K may sound like a big pension, but there are a lot of retired public employees in CA that get more than that for doing a lot less than a general in the military.
“”The pen is mightier than the sword” works only when those who hold the sword are disciplined, honorable men who value the rule of law”
That rules out the military officers under Obama.
Second possibility, is that if they demote Petreaus for doing one tenth of what Hillary did, they are setting the stage to indict her. In other words, basically doing the hand washing thing where by, “Look, Petreaus was reprimanded. How can we not also indict you?”
A tell all book, I mean a real tell all book my restore his reputation, and reap him gazillions
Yeah, but you got free food at the canteen and discounts on cool stereo stuff, (that you didn’t need), at the PX. Plus free uniforms. And free mailing from overseas. Free health care. etc. I mean what more did you expect? lol
I not only remember that SNL skit, I remember the music, and the scene of soldiers scraping rust off the side of a ship.
In it’s own way it exposed this suburban boy a glimpse of the real world.
Demote Petraeus, and vote for Hillary!!! Our caliphate overlords in action.
That could be in play, of course, but I think your original theory is the better: this is specifically about what Petraeous knows and could disclose.
I remain in the camp that believes the Clinton machine has enough on O to assure a walk for Hillary. Unfortunately, the taxpayer-funded Obama legal team will be charged with working very closely with the Clinton team to develop a legally effective result.
True. I don’t regret enlisting for a minute. The job opportunities in my hometown were non-existent and I didn’t have the money to go to college. Thanks to the Air Force I got some great job training and earned a Masters Degree. I got to travel throughout the US and Europe and I have a good retirement.
You know, I was just ribbing you. You are a true patriot.
I knew - But there was a lot of truth in what you said.
