Cartel expert says Sean Penn, del Castillo could be in serious danger

It’s been just over four months since Sean Penn met with the world’s most wanted drug lord, and things aren’t going as the actor had planned.

“My article has failed,” Penn told CBS’s Charlie Rose in an interview that will air on 60 Minutes this Sunday.

The Oscar winner was referring to the 10,000-plus word screed detailing his meeting this October with notorious Mexican cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, and the events leading up to it. Rolling Stone published Penn’s article this past Saturday, following Guzman's capture six months after his Hollywoodesque escape from a maximum security prison this past July.

Penn had hoped that by interviewing the head of one of the world’s largest and deadliest drug cartels he could spark a meaningful dialogue about U.S. drug war policies. Instead, his interview is being credited with helping lead Mexican authorities to the evasive Guzman—a recognition the actor does not want.

It’s Ash. From Alien. He’s an android. A bad one.

I hope they send wave after wave of sicarios after him. I hope he becomes so toxic that NOBODY wants the liberal piece of crap around. I hope the effort to take him out so disgusts every body else that he is shunned, avoided, ducked and eventually driven so far underground that every one will just assume he is dead and buried. Couldn't happen to a nicer limousine liberal. I do hope that no innocent lives become endangered, but since he's primarily in Hollywood and Los Angeles, there's not much chance of that.

Penn's a good actor who just happens to be a silly liberal with way too much money. I think he's amusing, just like all the other Hollywood liberals. I think as soon as Guzman is transferred stateside, the threat ends, mainly because his underlings are no longer under his orders and too busy killing off their opponents for the next rung up the ladder. However, if they go after him, I expect he'll blow them away with his expensive collection of guns. I understand he was a real gun nut, and probably has considerable range time. He's supposedly given them up for Charlize Theron. I call BS. We'll see. I'm sure that like all the other A-list celebs, he's also got armed bodyguards. Love to see some of these Mexican narco thugs blown away by a genuine celeb who also plays gun-handling cops and criminals on the silver screen. Life imitating art imitating life.

I just don’t see it. Whatever else about the cartels may be true, they aren’t stupid. First, they know Guzman made the decision to meet Penn. Second, the article is a celebration of Guzman. The cartel types love a good corrido, a movie, or,,,,dare I say it, “the Cover of the Rolling Stone”.

Penn will be fine.

It's essentially about a gringo that runs afoul of a cartel.

Cry me up a storm. Two fools tried to ride the back of the tiger and will likely soon find themselves inside the tiger.

Who would have thought that a drug cartel could improve the gene pool?

“Yeah, except he dragged that sweet Latina actress into the disaster too.”

The “sweet little actress” who knew exactly how to contact Guzman when Rolling Stone came calling. Please.

Actually, given the roles Charlize Theron has played, I’d find it amusing if she takes up concealed carry for self-protection and blows some sicarios away. It would contradict the gun control and Hollywood mantra that guns in private hands are only used to kill family members and commit suicide.

Madonna is going to be keeping her distance now so it is probably somewhere between friends and lovers.

A celebration maybe except for the confession quote..which El Chapo’s lawyer has already accused him of making up for the article. Which means that Sean will be involved in any upcoming trial, assuming he makes it that far.

That's a scene from Ridley Scott's 1979 movie Alien. The character shown there is an android which everyone thinks is a human until the scene from which that frame was taken.

Then they discover that he's (a) not a human being, and (b) has betrayed them all to die by being consumed by a ghastly horrible alien killing machine.

A second or two after that frame, the still-alive human crew members burn him with flamethrowers.

It’s not the article that’s failed, it’s freaky Penn who’s the major fail.

While Penn said he believes the Mexican authorities have deliberately tried to put the blame on him for Guzman's arrest, he told Charlie Rose he does not fear for his life.

That's good, Sean, bluster bravely in hopes that Guzman stays locked up forever. Of course to El Chapo, he could be locked away in a super-max forever, but that doesn't guarantee you safety.

So be sure to tell El Chapo's hit men that you're not afraid. They will laugh, and maybe even video the thing and post it on YouTube.

To tell the truth, I know lots of people who'd love to see the look on your face when they introduce you to Mister Blowtorch.

I always wondered what Robin Wright saw in him.

It was disgusting to realise the Princess Bride had married Spicoli.
Gave me nightmares!
Thankfully she came to her senses and left his butt.

With his facial features he will need some heavy duty cosmetic surgery to fly under the radar.
