Last year to open the Academy Awards, host Neil Patrick Harris joked, "Welcome to the 87th Oscars. Tonight we honor Hollywood's best and whitest." Then, after a beat: "Sorry…brightest."
It was a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement of one of the biggest scandals to plague the Oscars in more than a decade: every single acting nominee was white. Worse, in a year when Selma, a film about Martin Luther King Jr., was the best reviewed film of the year—but shut out in every race but Best Picture.
This year the joke is no longer funny.

In the ADT ad, the personification of strong ADT is a black guy. The thieves are white. (So much for reality.)
In the new Little Caesar’s ad, the respectable boss behind the desk is black and he slams the door in the face of the dolt white employee.

I saw that movie. Will Smith was great. He played a role completely outside his normal work.
I expected him to get an Oscar nomination.

Whether it’s a black actor or a white actor makes no difference whatsoever...They all still get money when you go see them play like they are someone else...
They need to come up with a “Tyler Perry’s Black Oscars” to balance things out. Have it on Juneteenth every year.

I thought "Training Day" was a very good performance. Of course Denzel does not do bad performances. He is freakin awesome!
He was awesome in "Book of Eli", and a lot of other movies as well.
I thought an Oscar was deserved for "Training Day".
By the way, the first movie Denzel Washington appeared in was "Death Wish."
I dunno. I loved Denzel and while watching Training Day I hated him. A beautiful man never looked so ugly.
