Biker Attorney's Request To Set Trial Date Denied

WACO -- A Houston-based attorney representing a biker indicted in the Twin Peaks case was denied a request for a trial date Friday.

According to Paul Looney who represents a member of the Cossacks, Cody Ledbetter, 26, Judge Ralph Strother refused to give his client a trial setting and denied making the District Attorney’s Office tell him what his client did wrong in the Twin Peaks incident on May 17th that left nine bikers dead. Looney claims the thousands of pages of discovery documents fail to reference anything his client did wrong at that time.

"In fact, he told me I had to get permission from the prosecutor to set trial, strange," said Looney.

Looney said his frustration was mounting in the case. This is the third time he'd tried to set a trial date for his client Mr. Ledbetter, the second time since he was indicted in November.

Looney said he might be seeking appellate court assistance next after his motion to quash the indictment, a motion for a bill of particulars, and a motion for the judge to give a trial setting were all denied.

Ledbetter was one of the 106 bikers indicted in mid-November by a McLennan County Grand Jury. District Attorney Abel Reyna has promised more biker indictments will come, this grand jury's term was extended to handle the Twin Peaks case in its entirety.

Looney also represents a biker couple in the Twin Peaks case who have yet to be indicted.

” I don’t even think he knows he’s being an ass.”

If NOT sticking up for gangsters makes one an ass, so be it.

If NOT sticking up for gangsters the rule of law makes one an ass, so be it.

Fixed your little fib.

Who, besides you, is sticking up for gangsters. I only saw one ambush that day and it wasn't by the bikers. Oh, you think bikers are gangsters, well it must be lonely in that delusional corrupt mind of yours. Are there a few bad eggs/seeds in the biker world? Yepper just like in the LEO world. In fact if you are or were a LEO; I'd have to say you would be one of those bad eggs/seeds.

How many times have you watched Deer Hunter this week alone? Why don't you tell us why you are so butt hurt about bikers? Did a girl friend or wife or daughter ride off into the sunset with one once? Did you lose a fight or get embarrassed by one? Really! Inquiring minds would like to know what your beef is and please don't give us any nonsense about wanting the truth. You wouldn't know the truth if it was a barn and fell on you.

Here. Have a biscuit.

The state, with cooperative judges, is working a "punishment by process."

Thank you for again reminding us of that. It's just sad and demoralizing to accept that as the reality of it.

I have always been leery of what was going on but have tried to stay open because there have been so many conflicting stories.

"Conflicting stories" which are inevitable after Patrick Swanton poisoned the well in the immediate aftermath of 5/17. It was so bad that the Waco PD gagged him and even scrubbed their own statement from their facebook.

But, no worries, we have three or four here who can be relied on to parrot that same narrative.

Not sure what your point is. I have already stipulated bikers, LEO’s, and pretty much any group is going to have bad eggs/seeds. Are all LEO’s bad just because a tiny percentage of them are? Same thing with bikers or any group.

The liberal mentality is since a tiny fraction of the people use guns for bad purposes; all gun owners are thereby bad people.

I hope you can see the analogy and the danger of going down that road.

A few poster’s here suggest all those who attended the COC meeting at the Twin Peaks restaurant are somehow in that small group of baddies. Of course there is some confusion on whether they mean those who laid in wait to ambush the bikers or the bikers themselves. Probably a little of both methinks.

Yes or No.

Do you think the Bandidos are gangsters?

“Same thing with bikers or any group.”

I guess it is the same. My tax money goes to the police to protect me.

The CoC dues go to the gangsters to allow the ‘good clubs’ to ride the road.

NONE

"Why don't you tell us why you are so butt hurt about bikers?"

Been a biker since 1961

"Did a girl friend or wife or daughter ride off into the sunset with one once?"

No

"Did you lose a fight or get embarrassed by one? Really!"

No

"Inquiring minds would like to know what your beef is and please don't give us any nonsense about wanting the truth."

I have this thing about the gangsters such as the Bandidos thinking they own the roads and shooting up public places.
