Charles Butt, the Texas billionaire magnate behind the H-E-B supermarket chain which forbid the open carry of firearms law that went into effect January 1, 2016, opposes school choice, funds anti-school choice lobbyists, and is even credited for his role in killing a 2011 state bill banning âsanctuary cities.â
Butt is the 2015 fourth richest Texan and Forbesâ 44th wealthiest person in America with a net worth of $10.7 billion known for funneling hard earned assets into educational lobby groups that fight school choice, although the 77-year-old grocer received a private Ivy League college education that included an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvaniaâs prestigious Wharton School and a masterâs in business administration from Harvard. Texas Watchdog stated Butt believes that private competition âundermines government schools.â

The biggest newest grocery store in my area is an HEB. I don’t like it and I don’t shop there.
I don’t recall any supermarkets at this point in time but I don’t recall any TV either LOL
I think our Randall’s is going to become an Albertson’s.
It used to be Albertson’s, years ago....and was terrible. We were so thrilled when it became a Randall’s.
Glad to hear Albertson’s has since upgraded :)
Hard to find a store with excellent beef (Prime) like H-E-B....I’ll have to do some research :(
As well as their seafood. ;-)
I like the Winco on the south side of Ft. Worth, fresh veggies and fruit and fresh bagels every morning. Winco is building a giant distribution center up in Denton so it looks as if they intend to move into North Texas big time.
Yes, the Austin location at the corner of Oltorf and South Congress is a real treat. It's like a whirlwind tour of the Third World - and right down the street from a homeless shelter. There is no way I'd set foot in that store *without* a handgun.
Yes, indeed!!
Seafood is back on the menu....we (finally) got a new grill, over Christmas. (The old one caught on fire.)
There aren’t any other grocery stores in Corpus Christi- except a puny Walmart or two.
So H-E-B is Texan for Gibsmedat?
Heb has CC sewn up tight.
Awww. You made me very, very nostalgic. A dear friend of my mom’s had an Italian deli very near us. The breadsticks were made there! and the olives. And the cheese (swoons).
I have a recipe for grissini. I’m holding my breath that it will be the same. You can no longer find them here.
4% gimedats in Corpus C. What’s Spainish for that phrase?
If your grill catches on fire, is it a good idea to get another one? LOL
Well, truth is, they probably aren’t any more “liberal” than any of the others...but I do think they should think hard about the open-carry issue, especially given that they are native Texans.
Our store has given us instructions to not interfere with anyone who comes in with a holster unless they cause a ruckus. We, though, aren’t allowed open or concealed carry. Their property, their rules. :)
Well, since the flames were over 6’...and the burners all were so charred they disintegrated...we thought it best to go ahead and get a new one ;-)
Then the washer went out! (Not fun with company in town.)
The grill and appliance store loved us, this Christmas. New year, new appliances.
Wow! Now, that takes ya back a bit! LOL!
yes’m
Find a new store.
sounds like it was a great place :)
we bought a bunch of assorted treats for New Years Eve.
I’m sure there’s always one within driving distance anywhere in the US.
if it’s good or not is another question.
