Browns Not Commenting on Report of Johnny Manziel Trip to Las Vegas
AP ^ | JAN. 3, 2016

Cleveland — Johnny Manziel’s weekend itinerary remains a mystery.

The Browns were not commenting on a report that their polarizing quarterback, who sustained a concussion last week in Kansas City, went to Las Vegas on Saturday as his teammates got ready for their season finale.

Manziel was not going to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers because he was in the N.F.L.’s protocol on head injuries. Manziel was hurt while rushing for 108 yards in a loss to the Chiefs.

USA Today quoted an employee and patron who said they saw Manziel at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood on Saturday. The report said he ate at a restaurant in the casino and sat down at a blackjack table.

It was not clear if the team has a policy prohibiting players from traveling when they are out with an injury.

Typically, players who have concussions are sensitive to noise and light, and are encouraged to rest as they recover. The Browns do not require concussed players to be at the stadium for home games.

Even if the team has no policy prohibiting injured players from traveling, given his recent history, hanging out in a casino in Las Vegas is not a good environment for Manziel to be in. He should have just stayed home and kept a low profile.

All Manziel (and everyone involved with him) needs to deal with is a gambling jones. Hypothetically, if he did have this weakness, and he had his other proclivities, he would be an interstellar flameout. Or, improbably, a beacon of redemption.

If he weren't a football player, he would be great on one of those late night commercials with the dude surrounded by chicks saying "hey, wanna know how to get girls?"

If he wasn't a millionaire football player, the best he could do would be Honey Boo Boo's mother.

MAKE THAT LITTLE TURD Manziel come back here then put him on the inactive roster next year and let him rot. To let that turd dictate to these teams would be ridiculous!

Why hire a new coach before a new GM?

The great Bobby Layne probably spilled more in one night out than this screwball Cleveland kiddie has in his entire boozin’ career..

Great pic, gets the point across, but to me it looks more like Big Ben Roethlisberger than Johnny Manziel.

Heck Bobby probably spilled more out during halftime.

Art Donovan, after smelling alcohol on Layne's breath after sacking him....

"I said, 'Bobby ... you must have had a hell of a night last night.' He said, 'I had a few at halftime.'"

The point being, Cleveland should have known what they were getting with Manziel, and told him, We don’t care if you like to get your party on, just do your job. But I think they expected him to be a choirboy and when he wasn’t they didn’t handle him properly.
