I’m allergic to liquor. It makes me break out in handcuffs.

Vodka, cigarettes, fireworks. What kind of a sick woman brings this to a fifteen year old?

I was at a party today when somebody asked if flavored vodka had less alcohol then straight vodka. I bit my tongue.
But she would have been a great date back in the day.

What is it made out of? A lot of what is sold as vodka is basically neutral grain spirits, maybe filtered, cut with water and perhaps flavored.
If you are looking for real vodka, look for potatoes on the label.
Otherwise, just get some Golden Grain and bottled water, and make your own ‘Vodka’.

No no no!
That is a beautiful vodka.
Do NOT mix it.
It is meant to be drank straight.
Neat or on the rocks.
Use an el cheapo vodka for White Russians.

Most vodkas can not be properly identified except by the most discerning of tastes buds and even then, only in a side by side comparison. Mix it with anything and it is next to impossible to distinguish for most people.

Put it in the freezer and drink shots. A slice of cucumber as a chaser. I learned d this drinking with a Soviet officer n Hungary in 88.

All vodka is different. Some is made from wheat, others are made from potatoes, or grapes, or rye, etc., I know nothing of your brand, but if you told me the ingredients, I'll tell you how it tastes . . . .

Vodka is alcohol and water. The best stuff is pure and will not give you a headache. Impurities give you a headache.

I’ve always preferred Stolichnaya. Not the flavored ones.
Your article is titled “Vodka Vanity”: I’ve often suspected many vanity posts here should have had that label. I’ve come dangerously close to posting one myself more than once.

I can tell the differences between vodkas to some extent. Hate Absolut for some reason, and will go for cheaper brands, but not so cheap it's indistinguishable from Absolut.
To: Artemis Webb
If you don’t like straight liquor, keep it for re-gifting to someone who does. Cheap vodka for White Russians. Who can tell the difference?
We happened on Flaviar - a purveyor of spendy alcohol - & have tried a few. I found a gin (Reisetbauer Blue Gin) that makes Sapphire Bombay seem poor in comparison. And I loved the SB when I tried it, compared to cheaper brands.
Of course, you could just keep it, buy others to compare with & educate your palette. ;-)

Vodka and tonic is nice, too, though I prefer gin. Vodka gives me a ‘bitchy effect’ so I usually stay away.
To: Artemis Webb
Almost all vodka is made from grain nowadays. Vodka made from potatoes is a bit smoother to my taste. Really though, vodka is supposed to have no taste. So I don’t taste a great deal of difference between various grain vodkas, as compared to the much wider variety of whiskeys, brandies, etc. I can’t see the point of buying expensive vodka.
