“It’s not a decision to which I’ve come lightly. At least one co-worker came near to tears as she tried to dissuade me.”

A possible awakening of a liberal person working with pussies...

I’m at risk, as a middle-age white man living in Colorado, of using the gun to kill myself.

Well the guy is an USAToday reporter....and we know where that business is headed....

Written by columnist Trevor Hughes in linked article:
"...And even worse, I know the statistics that show I am at risk, as a middle-age white man living in Colorado, of using the gun to kill myself..."

What would lead this guy to believe he would shoot himself?
If he believes this is a distinct possibility, he should seek help.

What did he buy? I’ll send him a round. He sounds like he only needs one.

Commentary from the gun grabbers is hilarious.

Buy a gun and make a liberal-assed white woman weep, I say.

After decades of handgun ownership, I have never committed suicide. None of my firearms have ever committed a crime and none have shot me.

Years ago I thought about a firearm to protect my home. It would have been a short barrel shotgun type.

Today, civil unrest is a game changer, and I would have to face more than one or two intruders.
Today I unfortunately think a different weapon might be what you need like the following.
Zastava PAP M92 PV AK47 Pistol, 7.62x39mm, 30 Rnd Mag

Obviously you cant bring that type of a gun out in public, but for the home I think that type is where weaponry is heading for home protection. -Tom

Bottom line stated in the last paragraphs:

a) He's tired of feeling like a soft target

b) Mass shootings occur where guns are banned.

c) Notes that they do not occur where a non-trivial portion of the population is armed

May be a lib, but he's rational enough to see exactly what danger is inherent in "gun free" zones.

Liberals show never be allowed to own, use or handle guns for any reason. Theyve worked so hard to make sure no one else can have them. They should be happy to live under the tyrany theyve longed for. That and most are mentally unstable as to be disqualified.

Re: 14

Wow. Sounds like the liberal guy actually gets it. Usually these folks are such slaves to their ideology, they will ignore all facts that refutes the liberal herd's positions du jour.

Just a couple of evenings ago as I was walking from my office to my parking garage, I watched as a typical homeless psycho-zombie was accosting and threatening people at the bus stop and along the street. I crossed to the other side of the street to avoid him and took a longer route to get to my car, but the thought occurred to me, why am I yielding my right to walk on the streets to this lowlife?

In a proper society, this psycho would be in an institution or in a hole in the ground. But now, they are just allowed to walk around free thanks to the ACLU and screwed up federal judges who have said they can’t be arrested unless they first commit a serious crime. (We had another psycho-zombie who murdered one person and assaulted and/or tried to rape 2 others—it was only after the third attack that the authorities moved in to lock him up.)

Even 10 years ago, this would be unheard of here. But now our streets have become dangerous, especially after dark. We have thousands of “homeless” taking over our parks and public areas and threatening and stealing from people. Folks now have to put bars over their windows in a lot of areas in our city.

This was the first time, as I was walking, that it really dawned on me that I need to get and carry a gun, because our government is not going to do crap to protect its citizens and you are now on your own.

I'm starting to feel like a soft target. I don't like feeling like a soft target.

He never thought about self-protection before?
Yeah, that's right - you're a meat head.

“I recognize that my decision doesn’t make the best logical sense.”

Right. because taking action to defend yourself and your loved ones is illogical?

No. I’m not going to say the rest of what I’m thinking. He’s taken the first step toward responsible citizenship. Bravo!
