SMLE. Excellent rifle.

Still useful today.

Could work from the arctic to the jungles to the desert.

Very accurate. Even though a both action, can be fired very quickly if needed. Extremely dependable.

So you get the best of both worlds especially if you are fighting in a location with very limited resources...

Several years ago I read an article on poaching in the Serengetti. The author remarked that the men guarding the animals were at a terrible disadvantage because the poachers had Uzis and all they had were old military ries. The picture showed them with SMLEs. I think in a place were you can see for a mile in any direction I’d pick the SMLE over the Uzi any day.
