I fully agree and $hit like that is why guys on the center of right keep catching hell about crap like that. I did see it and both me and my not so PC right leaning friend both enjoyed it and look to seeing it again this week, and both of us did not see any PC in this movie.
- just my two cents.
D'Jango Fett?
Right you are, all in the details of the film.
The new movie was good. I won’t spoil it but it did it’s job in the storyline fairly well. I only had a minor plot quibble but I know many others who would like to see it haven’t so I will hold off on details.
But Star Wars has always been about the toys. Even the original trilogy was.
Lucas made his fortune by setting up his deal as less box office take and retaining more merchandising rights on the first movie. That was actually to ease the studio’s fears since they were not so sure it would be a hit (and they didn’t get the toy idea I think).
Episode IV was the first move in history to gross more on merchandise than on box office sales. Lucas was right, and his business gamble paid off.
Have you watched the movie?
I’m to the point of overload with the nonsense surrounding this film...the theme music and references to SW are just about everywhere...I’m sick of it.
And up until yesterday, was interested in seeing the film sometime next week...now? Not so sure, but they won’t miss my few $$’s though.
Ford claims that Lucas didn’t want to kill Han off in Empire (i.e., carbonite scene) because there was not market in “Dead Han toys.” :-D Well, that makes sense! And I’m glad they didn’t kill the character off, for whatever reason. Although, you can really see how disgusted Ford was with what they did to his character in ROTJ — he just wasn’t acting like the Han we’d come to know in the first two. Only one scene occurs to me where Han was Han...”Hey...it’s me!”
JJ kills the death star again.
UH...The MOVIE made a half BILLION in sales this weekend.
That fact qualifies as a MOVIE “franchise”.
May the Schwartz be with you!
JJ kills American folk lore again (he did it with Trek, too).
I wonder if they will actually make that movie to make money off the Star Wars reboots.
Yes. Yes, very much:
And if it was a "remake" it is of episode 4, not episode 1.
Has been from day one. George Lucas was very shrewd and kept all of the merchandise licensing for himself, and let the studios have the lion's share of the box office.
JJ is today’s hollywood. No new ideas.
Moichendizing.
Everytime I hear “Star Wars” that’s the first little voice that goes through my head.
No amount of special effects wizardry can top Star Wars as reviewed by Mr. Plinkett.
Also... If you really want to see how the whole feud between the empire and rebellion started here’s an episode of “Cops: Totooine” that shows the back story.
New Star Wars more remake than sequel

New Star Wars more like Back to the Future
There was a moment during last nights screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens when I looked at my watch not to find out the time but to check the year.
So close is the new movie to the look and feel of the original its as if wed all been shoved into a time machine and sent back to 1977 (the Galactic Empire is now called the First Order but the troops are still wearing those amusingly dapper little caps).
