I always hated the Jawas.
As a kid, the Jawas weren’t scary the way Stormtroopers or Darth Vader were. But there was something unsettling about them. The Tusken Raiders might have been primitive savages who tried to kill Luke Skywalker—who, back then, was my hero—but the Jawas seemed worse. A little bit evil, even. The feeling was so pronounced that in the dozens of times I watched A New Hope as a child, the massacre of the Jawas never roused even a beat of sympathy in me. It was the opposite, actually. Every time C-3PO piled the Jawa carcasses into a funeral pyre, a little part of me thought, Good riddance. They got what they had coming. But I never understood why I felt that way.

Another take on George Lucas and his intentions for the original storyline... the Rebel Alliance as the Vietcong revolutionaries.
Short little aliens with glowing eyes and hooded robes. They scavenge for scrap and droids that they can sell to farmers and the like. Kind of like a race of shady used-car salesmen.

I believe in one scene in Jabba’s lair one of the droids was being tortured (by pressing hot plates on the bottom of its feet, IIRC). A droid was in charge of the torture.
But if you want really sick there’s some cyber-Nekomimi sex toys in one episode of Ghost in the Shell...
Granted. If AIs are really to be made in Man’s image they will suffer and cause all sorts of stupidity.
Of course, Artificial Idiot isn’t nearly as tech-sexy as Artificial Intelligence....
