With word that Waco Police shot four of the bikers who died during the melee at outside the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco seven months ago comes the question: Why didn't authorities come clean months ago?

Ballistics tests show that the four dead were shot with bullets from the same type of rifles used by Waco Police officers that Sunday in May.

The Associated Press broke the story after reviewing restricted court documents that had been privately shared with defense attorneys by prosecutors.

It is still unclear which officers --- fired their weapons and exactly why.---

And those....that think critically didn't think that this wasn't factual?

We shall see what happens to the WACO PD..

I doubt nothing....

Past history, say's NOTHING will happen.

I don't know why agencies think that in today's world anything will be kept secret. Stupid way to operate.

And if four of the bikers were killed by cops, then that means five were not. Which goes against most of the cop-haters around here who thought the cops simply started firing into the crowd of peaceful bikers who were sipping tea at the time. Plenty of blame to go around here.

Ballistics tests show that the four dead were shot with bullets from the same type of rifles used by Waco Police officers that Sunday in May.

Re-read that.

They didn't say whose pistol killed whom. Only rifles, which the bikers just didn't have in their pocket.

They have not said no police killed anyone with a pistol, just that four dead were from the 'same type of rifles' ("Asssault weapons"?) used by the police. That still does not tie it down to a specific rifle nor officer.

We still don't have all the data.

I was figuring the cops killed six rather than four.

It sounds to me that they need some serious marksmanship training up in Waco. If a guy with a scoped M14 can only kill 4 people for 12 rounds, that’s really lousy shooting.

I dislike Quanell as much as the next red-blooded American but his statement was quite reasonable to me.

Houston-based community activist Quanell X, who has had a public role in the aftermath of numerous shootings, said authorities did themselves no favors by trying to keep the ballistics reports secret.

It is extremely important to not hide information and to come out in the pubic and say we are not perfect and we ran into a crime scene that no average human being will ever see in their lifetime, he said. Don't expect us to be perfect in a war zone.

I guess he can be reasonable when it's dead white folks and there is no money to be made.

“...And if four of the bikers were killed by cops, then that means five were not....”
*******************************************************************************
Well, that statement certainly would not pass the most rudimentary logic test.

However, if the statement started with “And if ONLY four of the bikers were killed...” then it could be a logical statement, although possibly a false statement. The leak may have been meant to convey a misunderstanding that they were saying “five were NOT shot by police”...but that has not been said.

There are 2 events in the recent CNN release & analysis of the Twin Peaks biker shooting that suggest to me that undercover operatives were threatened by genuine bikers & protective firepower was used to overcome the threat: one biker is seen wildly striking at people in the parking lot crowd with a long, thick chain while another biker strikes a man in the throat, bear hugs him & spins him around on the sidewalk near the TP patio corner. LEO personnel supporting said undercover operatives & firing at or near the aggressors presenting the threats (as well as undercover operatives using their own weapons to eliminate the threats) might appear justifiable to most people. After studying this material for the better part of the past week I am heavily leaning in that direction; namely, at least two of the fatalities were caused by the biker instigators from the selection of their targets & the weapons visible to LEO observing their actions. The fastest human response to sudden, imminent danger of an LEO about to have their head bashed in by a heavy chain or stabbed, strangled or shot by the bear hug perpetrator would be to fire at or near the attacker & ask questions later IMHO.

We’ll see as the juries hear the cases and see the evidence. Smells fishy to me.
