So, the Big Speech is over. Obama spoke from the Oval Office about the domestic Islamic terrorism that occurred in San Bernadino a few days ago.
Many gun owners, myself included, dreaded this speech as the possible introduction point for unconstitutional Executive Orders on firearms. The Executive Order (excuse me, 'Executive Action') floated most heavily was to bring private firearms sales under the Brady Act. The announcement did not materialize.
One of two gun control urgings that did appear, however, is something I deem the "No-Fly-No-Buy List". In this effort, the present "No-Fly List" would be used to also deny the purchase of firearms to those people who are on that list.
Let us discuss the "No-Fly List". While, at first glance, it appears to be a useful tool to prevent terrorists from flying, it has a few characteristics that make it very Soviet-like:
This is an Un-Citizen-List. Placement on this list makes you an Un-Person, at least in regards to your ability to travel freely. That is not acceptable in a society like ours.
Now, along comes OTrauma, who pitches the idea -- not to REFORM this legal tool -- but to EXPAND it to include firearms purchases.
There is no due process. The present list must be reformed, not, instead, have its function expanded!
It is important that we do not let the "No-Fly List" become the "No-Fly-No-Buy List."
I noted that throughout the speech he repeatedly said ISIL, ISIL, ISIL, meaning Iraq and the Levant which denies that Israel isan independent state, being included in the designation The Levant which means to the East.
amazingly, the commentator for CBS in his recap of the speech repeatedly said ISIS, which is Iraq and Syria. There is abig difference between ISIL and ISIS. Another coverup by the Media.
I’ve never watched,or listened to him once either.
Knew what he was all about before being elected,didn’t feel the need to torture myself once elected. Never,not once.
He lectured us that muslims are our friends, our co-workers (yes he did), serve in the military (defending or killing us as in Nadal’s case) and they are big time sports heroes.
When guns are outlawed, only Muslims will own guns.
End of the no fly list.
It required secrecy: of whether you are on it, and how without adjudication.
Now there will be litigation demanding right to militia arms a la _Heller_, and demand of strict scrutiny a la adjudication of individual prohibition.
who came up with the no fly no buy talking point? Its dumb as hell. Neither San Bernadino terrorists were on the no fly list. Will the GOP challenge this or surrender to this stupid idea

No lie... A friend of ours was traveling to Disney World. They were held up at the airport because the name of their preschool child was on the no fly list. This child’s name is as American as apple pie.

How about if you are a gov employee and are in the watch list, you are FIRED. That would eliminate 72 people working at TSA. Imagine this, a person checking if you should be allowed to fly is on a terror watch list. only in Obama’s distorted USA.
Are members of the NRA already on the “list”?
Are the people Lois Lerner targeted on the “list”?
What percentage of the “list” is Christian versus Muslim?
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I lived in Chicago when he was becoming known, so also knew what he was all about before his being elected. Seeing him get elected was like watching a train wreck from afar. Nobody out here in my new home of WY took me serious. I felt like that person in that Twilight Zone episode who yells out to the unsuspecting victims, “to serve man...it's a cook book!”

Is his use of the term “ISIL” a ‘go’ code?
OTOH, I have no idea if I am currently on the “no fly list”.
Or if I have been ever been placed on it at any time, in the past 15 years, since I have had no reason to fly.
How does one find out if they are on the “no fly list”?
And one assumes that people who know they are on it, would already be taking steps to procure alternate identities...
If you want to be on a list, my ping list would be the best one to be on. :)
