Intruder dies in California chimney after homeowner lights fire

A suspected burglar who attempted to enter a California home through the chimney died on Saturday after the homeowner lit a fire without realizing anyone was inside, police said.

The man appeared to have climbed into the chimney during the night while the owner was away and then became stuck, according to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

People have died in chimney's without a fire being lit. It's difficult to breath when your lungs are that constricted. Even healthy young people have died this way.

That was torture/murder. The guy was stuck in the chimney and no threat to the home owner. The homeowner would have called the cops if he was not a psychopath. It was not self defense as the guy posed no danger.

hopefully you forgot the /s tag (I hope). Hindsight is 20/20; reality isn't. I don't know the homeowner's state of mind or what the perp would've done if he would've made it down. I would have called the cops. But the kicker is none of this wouldn't have happened if the perp hadn't crawled down the chimney trying to steal things that weren't his in the first place.
