John Fischer, who lives in the 500 block of Oak Street with his wife, said the couple's three Chihuahuas started barking about 7:45 p.m.

Fischer, who was in the kitchen, didn't think much of the noise. The dogs were in the bedroom with his week-old granddaughter, and he assumed they were reacting to a visitor they were expecting.

But as he left the kitchen, Fischer glimpsed something running out of the bedroom and into the yard. It was a coyote, and it was carrying something.

...

Fischer had enough time to see the animal had seized Eloise, an 8-year-old Chihuahua.

"The dog was screaming," he said. "It was awful."

There’s a lesson in this story. One which the open borders types need to take note of.

This behavior is proof that ISIS has infiltrated the U.S. coyote community.

"week-old granddaughter"

If the dogs had not been there, just think.

Dog was never seen again. The scary part is that the coyote could have just as easily taken the baby.

Same thing happened to two of Paris Hilton’s chihuahuas. That’s why you should have German Shepheds, Huskies or Newfies rather than little bitty dogs.

My thoughts exactly.

Especially with an infant in the home.

This shows how coyotes have lost their fear of humans. I don't care how clean you keep your home, to a coyote it is going to stink to high heaven of human. In the past a coyote would stay far away from a human dwelling.

Stupid dog owner who doesn’t recognize a happy bark from a horrifying bark. Sounds like those dogs barked 23/7. And to leave a week old baby unsupervised with 3 dogs is unacceptable.

The relatively new “coywolf” from the northeast is a breed of both, with the cunning of the coyote and fearlessness and aggression of the wolf.

Had this event taken place in the northeast, the baby might have been the one in the jaws.

Replace the Chihuahua with a Great Pyrennes, don’t think that the coyote will be a problem in future.

That little dog may have given up it’s life to protect the baby.

What an awful death for a pet! Keep your homes secure. No doggies doors. I have three little dogs and I always go outside with them. Live in the Hill Country and we have lots of wildlife including coyotes and the occasional mountain lion.
