Pat Harrington, Jr. (Schneider on "One Day At A Time") succumbing to Alzheimer's disease
facebook ^ | november 28, 2015 | Tres Harrington

From his Daughter Tres:

It is with a broken heart that my father is succumbing to Alzheimer's. After falling three weeks ago, a small hemmorage in his brain, and three weeks of hospital/nursing home, he is mentally and physically disintegrating. I weep, knowing he is not long on this earthly plane; cussing at him today to get him to open his mouth to eat the pureed food, as his swallowing mechanism isn't functioning so well, but then alas, he opens his mouth for ice cream...

I break down, laying my head on his chest, and the first sign of recognition, as he places he hand behind my head, to comort me. He wanted to ease my pain. I pray that what ever happens, in the next days or weeks, that it is for the best. And if Nama, Daddoo and Uncle Terry, want him home, than that is where he should be. I love you, daddy!!!

He was a regular on the Old “Steve Allen Show” along with Don Knotts.. et al

Made a short documentary for Boeing when they debuted the 747.
It’s probably on youtube along with spots from the Allen show..

Sorry to hear this, but he is 86 y/o. If he made it this far without Alzheimers, he's pretty lucky.

My grandmother got it in her early 60's...and it came on fast.

Absolutely hated that show.

Was there a more contrived TV show than that one?

He was on an episode of Ellery Queen too.

So sad to hear about it, esp. in Schneider’s case.

Everything Norman Lear did was beyond awful.

I am glad that line was in there lest people think Alzheimers itself is a fatal disease.

A problem for Alzheimers sufferers and those who care for them, is if they don't die from something else, they continue downhill to where they won't eat.
Then a decision will have to be made to force feed them or.... -Tom

Never cared for One Day at a Time. But Mr Harrington guested on Hot in Cleveland and it was a lot of fun. For any of you 50-60’s people, female and male, Hot in Cleveland is really entertaining. Great writing, very funny!

Seems like a lot of 70s celebrities are getting Alzheimer’s. Wonder how many of them have been on blood thinners?

All older people are on blood thinners. Is that a problem?
