hmm- I uninstalled the update, then hid it, and only do manual updates myself- and haven’t had it reinstall on me, but I haven’t done any updates recently either- maybe it will happen to me too I don’t know
That’s what I did also, thanks to your advice — uninstalled the update, hid it, and turned off auto-update. This morning I went to Control Panel and did a manual update check. Only one “important” update showed up. But before I initialized the download, it occurred to me that the patch number was vaguely familiar. Googling, I found it was that dreaded KB3035583 file again. This time under the guise of an *important* update.
With auto-updates off, and not having selected the file for download, I should have been fine. But upon shutting down today, some one file was auto-updating against my wishes. We both know what that file is.
So watch out. Seems they figure to have exhausted their pool of the less savvy, and now are pulling tricks to target the rest of us. How else can my auto-update-off status suddenly go to “Installing update 1 of 1. Please do not turn off your computer”?
Ridiculous! Frankly, I’m feeling violated at this point. I’ve done everything in my power NOT to install Win10. They are determined to force it upon me despite my wishes.
They are insistent on making Win10 the ObamaCare of OSes.
To any MS employees out there: I paid for Win7, I’m very happy with Win7, it’s almost as good as XP. But I don’t want Win10! I’ve done all in my power to avoid it, and now you’re overriding my auto-update-off switch, which is sinister. PLEASE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!
