Experts Concerned Weâve Sent Sexist Messages to Space
Weâre not doing enough to promote diversity to aliens. During the British Science Festival, a group of experts pondered whether or not some of the images we have sent into space might be too sexist and too white â which would clearly be sending the wrong message to any aliens out there. Yes, seriously. Dr. Jill Stuart, considered an expert on the âpoliticsâ of space, expressed particular concern about a plaque on the 1972 Pioneer 10 spacecraft that featured a naked man and woman. âThe plaque shows a man raising his hand in a very manly fashion while a woman stands behind him, appearing all meek and submissive,â Stuart said, according to an article in the Guardian.

Yes I see what they mean, I did detect some microaggressions from the symbols which forced me to retreat to my safe space.

Yank their funding. Now.
The aliens don’t care about that nonsense. They just want more Chuck Berry.
I doubt that the Klingons will care.
Forget the spacecraft ,what about all the Radio and TV signals that are way way out there now ,OMG all those terrible TV shows
Sex? What is this ‘sex’ they are talking about? In my best Conehead voice.
Thanks for the post - I’m a big Kat fan - hilarious on the Gutfeld show.
Truly, the morons of the world have united!
Lewis was too generous: it isn’t an abolition of man...
All hail the Wussification of Man!
What if the aliens are asexual?
Dr. Jill Stuart has too much time on her hands.
It seems we are devolving into stupiderness.
It's perfectly fine. When the aliens arrive, they'll see us with clothes on and won't have the slightest clue which person has the dangly bit between the legs.
There's absolutely no reason to panic.
Yep I remember that Pioneer spacecraft and the image of man and woman. As I recall there were graphic depictions of both male and female nude bodies. And a map showing which planet the spacecraft came from.
I’m sure its sexist for many other reasons. One of which would be, its hetero normative and binary in this depiction of people. What about the diversity we hear about. What about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered peoples??? Why are they not represented as part of the rich tapestry of diversity the aliens will find on earth????
I doubt your average green or blue alien is too concerned about gender equality issues. Seriously, is this woman in a classroom teaching this crap? She needs her teaching license revoked.
If they think the picture on Voyager (V-ger ;) ) is sexist, what about when they start decoding radio signals and hear rap music?
>> that featured a naked man and woman. The plaque shows a man raising his hand in a very manly fashion while a woman stands behind him, appearing all meek and submissive
Aliens will find this and think, “This race has men with a strong pimp hand. We must meet them and establish trade.”
Then, they will arrive and find the world ruled by Pajama Boi and easily-offended college girls and they will destroy us as an act of mercy.
