State Department issues travel warning following terror attacks

The State Department is alerting Americans to the possible risks of travel due to increased terrorist threats around the world.

A travel alert issued on Monday says current information suggests that Islamic State militants, al-Qaida, Boko Haram and other terrorist groups continue to plan attacks in multiple regions. U.S. authorities say the likelihood of terror attacks will continue as members of IS return from Syria and Iraq, and others not affiliated with terror groups engage in violence on their own.

Extremists have attacked in France, Nigeria, Denmark, Turkey and Mali and IS has claimed responsibility for bombing a Russian airliner in Egypt.

U.S. citizens are advised to be vigilant in public places and on transportation and avoid large crowds, including holiday events or festivals.

The Middle East and Europe are so nice this time of year. Gotta change those plans. I wonder what it was that tipped of the State Department?

No sh!t? Thanks for your help and concern, you overpaid federal douchebags.

I hate the feds. All of them. With the possible exception of some of the military.

The whole world is on lock down, our rights a freedoms sacrificed, so our namby-pamby, self-righteous leaders can play footsie with terrorists. Seems to me this entire situation is 180 degrees out of whack. It should be the enemy afraid to move, cowering, watching over their shoulders.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

If they want to issue travel warnings, I think they should have interstate travelers being watchful too. Who said terrorists only attack international flights? It would be no more difficult to plan something involving a cross country flight.

Driving? Taking a bus? Keep your eyes open. No reason those wouldn’t be targeted too. Ditto for movies, malls, parades, even the local night spots could be targeted.

No matter what you’re doing or where you’re going, be alert.
