Maybe not. According to some sources I've read, the banjo originated in Africa. So put those racist thoughts out of your head.
BTW, some years ago I read an article by some white blues historians who argued that whites should not be allowed to play blues music. Because all whites are somehow implicated in black oppression or some bs reason. Yes, even whites born after the end of segregation are blamed for black oppression. So, according to those blues historians, whites can listen to and buy black music, but they shouldn't be allowed to play it.
I say, let's go totally non-racist and non-oppressing and forbid whites from buying, listening to, and playing all types of black music. I'm sure all the black musicians and musical frauds like rappers will appreciate that non-racist gesture.
