Mmmmmm... Buffalo burgers for everyone.
SW Montana to have a warmer and dryer Winter than “normal”.
If it is to stop buffalo from moving into private land, fine. But if it is to protect ranchers who buy a 10 acre spread and simply have grazing leases on BLM and forest land, they should have to deal with whatever wildlife is there.
Uh oh. When the chips are down
the buffalo is empty.
That guy charge through barb wire? What’s wrong with it?
I thought the re-introduced wolves were supposed to do this job.
That’s a bunch of bull!
Bear! Bear! Why are you eating that bison.? Stop bear!!!
Buffalo have a very wide range in North America. And much of this range is federal land taken from the states. However, this also means that the buffalo could be spread out in isolated herds without endangering cattle. Importantly, some of these herds could be privatized for commercial meat production.
In 1989, when Ted Turner bought the 113,000-acre Flying D Ranch, he sold off all of the cattle. Shortly thereafter, he repopulated the land with the great American bison. Since then, his herd (spread across ranches in seven different states) has grown to 55,000, 11 percent of the world’s population of 500,000.
No reason other ranchers couldn’t raise herds, as long as they kept them segregated from cattle.
wolves have recently been released into Yellowstone, man ought to stop constantly manipulating nature and give the wolves a chance to balance the herds of bison. The bison, the wolves and the Native Americans were all doing great until the (supposedly) civilized Europeans took over the country. The American wilderness wildlife has been out of balance ever since, right down to clean waters and the fish that depend on it. Human progress needs to stop killing every animal that gets in its way, they’re just making a living. option: remove money from nature’s equation because it’s time for modern humans to bend for a change and if a cattle ranch needs to compete with bison feeding on the same land, then so be it. Approximately 65% of the American people can’t afford the price of beef anyway. Flame away!
We warehouse "wild horses"...costing us million's of dollars a year....
But they are going to KILL buffalo....because they might migrate out of the park?
Why not...have a hunting season on them?
I’ll take one.
Run fer the hills!ls
Yummy...I love me sumb bison burger...
How about start allowing hunting in national parks to thin the herd for 100 dollars a tag, thus making money. I know, I know. The gubermint would never allow it. They will hire some one to come in and shoot them at 500 dollar an animal and call it a big success.
The idiots at the Park Service will insist on slaughter without any return on the usable carcasses. If they had a lottery for Montana Ranchers (based on their lands under gracing), then these ranchers could harvest their share, keep the bison away from their cattle, and sell their bison meat to Ted. Win, win, win (including the bison herd). But, the Park Service will probably screw it up.
The spirit of Tatanka Iotake is troubled.
A few years back they imported a number of Bison from the island of Catalina to Yellowstone.
They filmed a movie on Catalina Island about 80 years and imported Bison there for the movie. They have thrived ever since.

Bison are refugees also and entitled to their rights!
