Isn’t this the company that’s joined at the hip to AARP for Medicare supplements?

Absolutely. I have medical supplement with them through AARP. Because the group is so large, they don’t raise the rate because you get older. That was the only insurance I could find that wouldn’t raise my rate as I age. There has never been a problem with them paying what Medicare does not. Plus, it is cheaper for me than any other insurance company because I am so old (82).

That insurance plan is UnitedHealcare’s plan for AARP members, AARP does not have any influence in the plan itself.

I don’t care about AARP’s political beliefs, I do care that I have the best insurance I can get.

Yep. Really wish that all my fellow oldsters would wake up and realize that AARP has always been a group of shysters. Their primary goal is to sell insurance plans.

United Healthcare has taken over several insurance carriers including UMR. They appear now to be under the umbrella of Optum and at least include United Healthcare, UMR, United Behavioral Health and AARP. At least in Texas they seem to have a contract to provide mental health services to Medicaid kiddos with no co-pay. The rates they pay to providers who see patients under the Medicaid plans is higher than the rates they pay if the insured is paying for the coverage themselves or getting it through their employer. Must cost Texas taxpayers a lot!
