Six Month Anniversary of Twin Peaks Shooting [Waco]

WACO -- Tuesday was the sixth month anniversary of the Twin Peaks Shooting, one of the deadliest days Waco has ever seen.

Around noon on May 17, 2015 nine bikers were killed and at least 18 more were wounded in the shootout at the Waco restaurant.

Many believe not enough has been done in the past six months, while others say justice takes time.

The time has been filled with lawsuits, conspiracy theories, threats, video leaks and rallies.

A week prior, out of the 106 cases presented to a Waco grand jury, 106 bikers were indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity with the underlying offense of aggravated assault and murder for their involvement in the Twin Peaks. Nine of the 106 indictments were sealed, meaning they were bikers who were not arrested on May 17th, bringing the new biker count to 186 (177 were arrested the day of the shooting).

Seven of the nine sealed indictments were unsealed by Tuesday; four of the bikers had turned themselves in to the McLennan County Jail, two surrendered in Dallas and were transported to Waco, how one got into custody was unknown. Their names are:

Ray Nelson, 42

Jerry Pierson, 59

Jeffrey Veillon, 53

Clifford Pearce, 52

Christopher Carrizal, 34

Paul Miller, 39

Cory McAlister

District Attorney Abel Reyna said the group of bikers who were arrested in May 17th (out on bond) and were not indicted on November 10th would be indicted, eventually.

Reyna would not say whether that would be at the next grand jury session scheduled for Wednesday, November 18th as grand jury proceedings are secret.

Why were nine of the indictments sealed? They cannot be subject to the gag order. I hope they choose to exercise their First Amendment rights.

Indictments are sealed as a matter of routine when the person named in the charge has not been placed under arrest.

The gag order covers people who have been questioned as witnesses, so I'd say everybody who was there is under the gag order. Being gagged doens't hinge on being arrested on May 17th.

Despite Reyna’s statement that those arrested on May 17, but not indicted on November 10 will be indited later, I hope all those arrested but not indicted file motions to drop all bond and bond conditions on account of the accusation having gone stale.

The next time bikers are having a shootout in a public place, the cops should definitley take a pass on getting involved.

Or, perhaps they might consider getting OUT OF THEIR CARS before shots are fired and ominous signs of escalating tensions are happening. (This known from after the fact review of videos as sworn by LE in court.)

“The next time bikers are having a shootout in a public place, the cops should definitley take a pass on getting involved.”

Less likely people will be killed if that happens.

How fast did it escalate from a run over foot to gunfire? The pace at which the Cossacks left the patio and retreated to the patio make it look like it happened pretty quick

One obvious sign of escalating tension was the Cossacks showing up in great number, and occupying most or all of the space reserved for the meeting. The meeting organizers didn’t expect that. Cops knew this was going to be a hot scene long before the little brou-ha-ha broke out as Bandidos pulled into the parking lot.
