I don’t agree the new Hostess products are as good as the old ones, but they aren’t bad.

I still love the Hostess choc cupcakes with the cream.

I don’t get Twinkies.

Never actually witnessed anyone eating one. Never heard anyone actually wax poetic about them. (Only this year via ‘net do I see some - including those I know - claiming they like them.)

Don’t like them.

Actually, I think most of their snack cakes taste somewhat different now. And not for the better, at least the ones I’ve tried. They might be using a new formula.

I hated all the fruit pies. Too much dried sugar going everywhere and it tasted like crap to me.

Ditto with those awful SnoBalls. Gross.

Twinkie sometimes. Ho-Ho’s were always too dry for me. I preferred the Ding Dong aka King Dong (to think they named a product that back then with no laughing).

Over time I got tired of cakes and desserts. Never liked pies for some reason. Something about cooked fruit.

I haven't tried them since they came back, so I don't know what the new ones are like.

All of the cakes are smaller. The SusieQs, which were the last ones back, were especially AWFUL. MUCH smaller, squared off corners, and half the "creme".

The blueberry pies, which had been discontinued before the Hostess failure, remain MIA. The orange cupcakes were smaller, had a slightly drier texture, but the frosting was dead on, and remained tolerable. The Ding Dongs (Big Wheels, King Dons) were dry and "mealy". (Ring Ding Jr.s were always better anyway). The Raspberry Zingers were smaller and a touch drier but otherwise OK.

I don't know if the resuscitated Drakes cakes are any better (the Funny Bones went downhill even before the end). Right now I find that Tastykake makes the best pies where I am (Georgia, no Drakes here). It's just as well, as I am due to go back on my low-carb diet.

Never liked Twinkies. I always liked the Chocolate Cupcakes, and the Ho-Ho’s better. We had a Hostess factory around the corner from us when I was a kid (50’s). I haven’t noticed any difference in the new ones, except for the size, which has changed in just about everything. Dunkin’ donuts used to be bigger too, but they shrunk them as well.

The Ho-Ho’s seem the same.

Maybe if you don't consider they're half as big and twice the price.

JJ’s pies put Hostess to shame.

Not even in the same league.

I think the little tiny powdered sugar donuts have also changed a bit, but it’s been so long since I had the old ones my taste buds may have just changed.
****************************************************

It’s not your taste buds, they are awful. The best little powdered donuts are Sara Lee. The best big ones are Entenmann’s.

For one thing, everything they came back with is 25% smaller at the same price. Go with Little Debbies or Mrs Freshleys

7-11's chocolate cupcakes aren't bad. They taste similar to Hostess, and are nearly half the price.

Suzie Q's were my favorite.
(That's why they didn't last 3 years in the freezer.)

No use trying them now. The cream was my favorite part of them.
There was never enough to begin with for me.

I was a Hostess “Ding-Dong-a-holic”. Then the bankruptcy happened which gave impetus to better eating habits for me. The ding dong hiatus was just what I needed go more “nutritious.” I am so glad I changed my ways!
