I haven't gone to a professional or major college game or a major concert since the early 1990's. Except for the Super Bowl and a few other venues, security was minimal in those days.
No, and it’s a good thing, because a lot of folks I know enter those venues walking heavy.
Metal detectors will not deter an attack like the one in Paris yesterday. The perps will shoot their way into the venue, especially if there is no resistance.
Don’t know about explosives but everyone who enters CitiField gets wanded and patted and all bags and backpacks get opened.
PNC Park (Pittsburgh Pirates) wands you before allowing you in.
> Donât know about explosives but everyone who enters
> CitiField gets wanded and patted and all bags and backpacks
> get opened.
See, that’s doomed to fail.
Determined perps will shoot their way in.
With no resistance, it becomes all the easier.
Fox had video of people being wanded today. They set up a two ring perimeter around stadiums for this weekend.
You get the wand in Seattle - no bags, no purses, and you must open your jacket.
As in wearing suicide belts?
We are sssooo overdue for a big attack here after the last seven years under 0bama.
I in fact have trouble explaining why there hasn’t been more attacks here.
Anyone else have any ideas why we have’t had more and larger attacks the last couple of years?
The sports stadiums here in So Cal all have metal detectors these days. At least the ones I’ve gone to.
It depends. I’ve been to events where they pat you down, walk through a metal detector. For many the answer is no. I’m not sure what the ratio is.
University of Michigan football games have 112,000+ attending and they just scan your ticket.
> As in wearing suicide belts?
No. Use your imagination.
Let’s just say that I’m uncomfortable in crowds unless I can have my own security.
They’re more after bottles of water, soft drinks and beer. Snack contraband too. Maybe Confederate battle flags as well.
I was at the UM-MSU game (yes, it was epic). Walked right in . . . but the cops were watching, and there was a whole pile of them.
I'm cool with that . . . as long as you understand that you're breaking the law in Michigan.
Maybe because we have a Jew-hating, anti-Israel, Muslim president?
What about the college stadiums?
Imagine one or multiple attacks on college bowl games on Thanksgiving Day with tens of millions watching.
Why use assets to attack America while Baraq Obama is doing a better job of killing off the economy himself? Physical attacks by external terrorists will most likely commence when we have an American president again. January 21, 2017 is not that far away.
You have to walk through metal detectors at Angels’ Stadium and the Honda Center where the Ducks play. They just started this year at Angels’ games. Like at the airport, you have to remove everything from your pockets before walking through. They wand you if you set it off.
IIRC, the last time I went to a show on Broadway they checked all backpacks, purses, and the like, but I don’t remember any metal detectors.
But that was over a year ago. Don’t know if they’ve stepped up scrutiny since then.
Anyone seen anything on Broadway lately, who could let us know?
