Current Media Attack Against Trump: Iowa Voters Being Stupid
Vanity | 13 Nov 15 | xzins

Posted on 11/13/2015 6:46:56 AM PST by xzins

Rather than rebut the media, let's just post the actual words of Donald Trump, so everyone can compare what the media says versus what Donald Trump actually said.

About Iowa Voters:

Trump is talking about Carson's story of stabbing his friend. He relates what Carson has written about lunging with a knife to stab his friend when lo and behold it hits the friend's belt instead... and then: "He plunged it (the knife) into the belt, and amazingly the belt stay totally (fine?), and the knife broke --- how stupid are the people of Iowa, how stupid are the people of the country, to believe this crap..."

Contrast that with the media meme: "Trump called the voters of Iowa stupid." As you can see from above, he was talking about Carson's story being unbelievable that the knife hit a belt and it broke the knife.

See video of the event at the 2:01 mark toward the end of the speech.

It’s a common expression at a very simple level in the speech of common people.

I was not referring to Trump...I was referring to Hillary.

In fifty years:

Here lies presidential candidate Donald Trump,
Shot by his words in his own rump,
presidential aspirations were stuck with a fork,
Because he couldn’t stop talking like he was from New York.

I like Trump, though he’s not the ideal.

But my point is that none of them are, and this nonsense about Ben Carson s life story is just garbage. It is not why I would/would not vote for him. It is policy, what is he advocating that earns my vote.

Because the whole story is weird.

But pint taken. I believe Trump can simply take up three mantras. 1) Control the border eliminate illegal immigration. 2) Renegotiate trade deals to our benefit and the benefit of the American worker. We may have to pay more for the plastic crap we buy from China, but more Americans will have jobs. 3) Make America the business tax haven by fixing the tax structure.

1, 2, 3. Keep it simple!

So Trump is attacking Carson - GOOD!

Better than telling us we should elect him and he’’ beat hillary becuase he with propose a tax plan that will do this, and he should be elected becuase blah blah blah, like Bush should be elected becuase he cut taxes in FL, YAWN.

We need someone who will take the fight TO the person he is running against. Hiilary is scared to death that Trump won’t treat her with kid gloves like the media and all the rest of the boring GOP candidates.

As an observer, I’d say the question should be asked of you. If Carson addresses an issue it’s fair game.

Good point, 1Old Pro.

McCain and Romney both refused to fight Obama.

1) Cruz
2) Trump

No one else. I am not a Carson fan as far as becoming POTUS is concerned. If I had a child with a brain tumor, he would be first on my list as a surgeon. He would be ahead of allot of people for allot of things I may want done. POTUS is not one of them.

I would be fine voting for Trump in a general election. As it stands I am still for Cruz and don’t see that changing, however, I would also love to see Trump run with Cruz as his VP. I just think the GOPe and the Democrat Media Complex would burst a blood vessel.

>> did Trump say "Iowa voters are stupid?" like the media is saying? <<

Trump asked what I'd call a rhetorical question, to wit:

How stupid are the people of Iowa . . . to believe that crap?

Well, I've been taught that whenever a rhetorical question is proffered, a conclusion is unequivocally embedded in said question. Therefore, I gotta think that no amount of contrary spinning by the Trumpeterian apologetic chorus can change the reality that Trump's statement clearly implies stupidity on the part of at least those Iowa evangelicals who continue to support Carson.

But does it matter? Probably not. As has been already established beyond any shadow of reasonable doubt, Trump is untouchable and can do no wrong.

“What he is doing with Carson is using Carson’s own book to anchor him with “pathological (hidden) anger” and/or “liar.””

But that is dishonest.

The New York crowd understands full well what Trump was doing. He was not actually calling Iowans stupid in the literal sense as in saying you are stupid people. The phrase “Are you stupid?” Or attaching stupid as an adjective is for better or worse a figure of speech in this region to denote something unbelievable. In this instance, Trump in effect says that he can’t believe Carson is this high in the polls based on an unbelievable (to him) story. So he makes a statement and follows it by a reference to being stupid. We do this all the time here. As an example, say someone will make a statement that the Jets will win the Super Bowl, a normal discussion might be “The Jets haven’t won since Namath, they’ll never win, what are you stupid?” So this is a case of Trump being Trump. Question is, will the larger population understand this and be okay with it.

Other bottom line is that once nominated the Republican party opens its’ coffers and lists to the nominee. Trump could raise $1 billion as easy as anyone, perhaps easier.

It is also likely he has a dozen friends who are also billionaires who would likely open a PAC giving him more than $1 billion to destroy Clinton.

He did not say, “How stupid are Iowans, How stupid are Americans, that they would SUPPORT CARSON...”

Trump did say, “How stupid...to believe that crap”

What ‘crap’ was he talking about?

That the knife just happened to hit a belt and that it just happened to break.

Charges where never filed.

No police report was ever made.

No statute of limitations exists as no one ever brought the incident to authorities and it would not be able to be brought now.

But that is dishonest.

How so?

Carson said himself in his book that he is "pathological" (re: his anger). Trump is merely pointing that out.

There is no doubt in my mind that Trump is the most feared adversary because of his own money, his access to more money, and his name recognition.
