Legally, alcohol is banned in Saudi Arabia. In reality, however, there are people in the country who drink.
If you're wondering how exactly they actually get that alcohol, consider the multiple reports in the Saudi press today that describe how the Saudi authorities at border with United Arab Emirates caught a man with 48,000 cans of Heineken – all disguised as Pepsi cola.

I was flying in there since the 80s. The rich are the biggest drinkers you ever saw.

I hear they wait until the nanosecond the planes nose hits foreign airspace, off flies the bathrobes and they pour shots straight into their mouths. Hypocrites.

I’ve had an interesting past.... I was once in Islamabad at the Marriot. There was no bar at the hotel but you could have a bottle sent to your room (brown bag) if you signed a document basically stating you were an infidel.
I met earlier in the day with a P A Air Force general ( who happened to recieve his training in Houston) . He could not drink in country since he was Muslim.
We met up in my room late in the day where I had ordered a bottle of Jack Daniels.... we drank until 1:00am.

While deployed during Desert Storm we use to make our own beer. The mix we received from the world would have the labels removed and written on the can was beef stew. However, there was a raised stamp L, D or A. One batch would fill 22 juice bottles provided by the local store. The Brits in the compound next to ours would make the whiskey. It was great.
All I wanted was a Pepsi....just one Pepsi.
What is 'P A'?
Really liked Jerry Reed. He always had some great one liners in those movies. Funny guy, good singer.
We got it into country in diplimatic pouches/palets.
The Suadis were not allowed to look at anything the “sticker” on it. We had a lot of Heineken and other drinks.
In the 70’s and 80’s You could buy Liquor or Beer in any of these Countries if you go to an International Hotel or Airport (legally) I have also purchased booze inside the Cities at the equivalent of “Speakeasies” or Private Clubs (I was actually taken to some by Iranian Army Guides, they couldn’t or wouldn’t go in with us but would check on us 30 minutes after we got there, for what ever reason)
If you go 30 miles out of town you could actually buy Budweiser and San Miguel beer (I traded 2 Marlboro Cigarettes per Beer)
