Everybody got it back then because we weren’t so busy being offended that we couldn’t see anything else.

Everybody got it back then because everybody was being offended. BLAZING SADDLES was really an attack on the whites. The black characters were far more sympathetic.

Reminded me of the early DOONESBURY cartoons, which were very funny because they made fun of everyone -- right- and left-wingers both.

I enjoyed that strip back then. Later it got sanctimonious.

I always kinda thought that Brooks must have had an especially bad experience at a Howard Johnsons....
