The separation of church and state is an issue that has been discussed in our country for hundreds of years.

Gideon Bibles have been made available in Bledsoe county schools for years. Residents say a recent complaint put a halt to the deliveries in school libraries.

Gideon places free Bibles in hotel rooms, fire halls, army bases and hospitals. The non-profit group also visits prisons to spread the word of the New Testament worldwide. The big question circulating the Tennessee Valley is whether or not the New Testament Bible should be offered up to 5th grade students or not. Gideon Charlie Queen has been giving away free Bibles for years. He says 5th graders could take one or walk away, no pressure. ...

Will this include the Common Core practice of having kids recite the shahada while kneeling on a prayer rug?

Saw a similar story on this locally last night:

http://ksnt.com/2015/11/11/groups-says-bibles-in-geary-county-school-unconstitutional/

Per the article, there is ‘concern’...and a student felt ‘very uncomfortable’.

Nope. If someone started handing out korans, the Administration would assist them.

Madison's Notes for the Bill of Rights

Madison used this outline to guide him in delivering his speech introducing the Bill of Rights into the First Congress on June 8, 1789. Madison proposed an amendment to assuage the anxieties of those who feared that religious freedom would be endangered by the unamended Constitution. According to The Congressional Register Madison, on June 8, moved that "the civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretext infringed."

Something very peculiar going on in Tennessee - the islamokazis have been making bold open moves to take over around there. They must feel comfortable about doing that.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself.)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. Metmom holds both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail Metmom if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

It saddens me that so few Freepers understand that there is a fundamental conflict between government run schools and the First Amendment.

To maintain order all schools,, both private and government, must restrict First Amendment rights. This is perfectly OK in a private school because parents have **privately** agreed with the policies of the school.

When government schools restrict First Amendment rights it is not OK. One of the worst aspects of government schooling is that children are at risk of learning to be comfortable with government functionaries restricting their God-given rights.

There is no solution to the conundrum. Government schools pit one group of neighbors against another as each strives to impose their worldview on their neighbor's children.

Solution: Begin the process of privatizing all schooling on every level.

Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
At this stage, any Freeper that does not know what the tenth plank of communism says has to be a FINO.

I really hate it when the word “religious” or “religion” is used to describe the agenda of the left.

They aren’t against “religious freedom” or against dispensing of “religious materials”.

They’re opposed to Christians, Christianity, and Christian materials.

Ultimately, they do want to crush all religion.

But they’re going to start with the one that is most opposed to their agenda.

I don’t think so, really.
But, that’s because of my worldview.

There is Christ, and all that oppose Him and His people.

Islam is the manifestation of the “prince of this world” and his goal is to oppress and kill all followers of his Enemy.

They do indeed. Islam is only an “enemy of my enemy” scenario for the State Atheists. But as far as all of them being motivated by the prince of this world, that is certainly the ultimate truth of the matter.
