We farm. But I garden in 2 plots in town. One at my father’s home & 2nd at my house. I planted both, but harvested very little at my father’s home. His cook took care of that.

Our farms are clay loam dryland farms. But I have an orchard next to my home at the farm. Some are young trees 4-5 years old. Others are 50+ years old.

Plan to pick the Hachiya Japanese Persimmons tomorrow. Bird are beginning to work on them. I’ll have to pick and wait for them to ripen, some of them I’ll dry.

We’re getting pecans now, but we had a wet year and the rats and squirrels are tough competition on the pecans this year. I’m trapping the rats, they have over run the whole area.

My garden plot in town was not that large, but it was well composted and it did wonderful. Had very large tomato cages, but they totally over ran them.

I traded some pumpkins for a bunch of Fuyu and Hachiya Persimmons as the trees I planted were shaded by the growing Redwood trees and I never got around to planting some out front.
