Because 1—if the men have been arrested, the UK laws of prejudice are very strict re the press and comments. Or 2—the mods on the paper have to shut down the comments section if people start using foul language and/or are trolling. Ive seen it happen on the DM comments and others before, esp when its a passionate subject.

There are many similar stories where the DM does not squelch comments - after the perps are identified and tried. Legalities...

Unlike many other European publications the DM is actually quite open to readers’ comments. Unlike, for example, the German BILD tabloid. Now there’s a bunch of opinion-suppressing scumbags.

Scotsman - we may have clashed on this topic before (sorry if I am confusing you with some other UK poster here), but you are fully correct with your comment.
