In the last few weeks I have seen symbols appearing where commas or quotation marks should be. Such as this:
extremists ââ¬â .... Mark Levin ââ¬â
I don't know about anyone else, but they kind of bug me. By accident, I found a fix.
I knew it!
Common: â â â â â â ⦠â â ° © ® ⢠⢠½ ¼ ¾ â â â ⡠µ ¢ £ ⬠« » â ⣠⥠⦠¿
Math: - à ÷ ± â Ï â ⤠⥠â â ⧠⨠⩠⪠â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â ⺠⻠â â
SuperSub: Ⱐ¹ ² ³ ⴠⵠⶠⷠ⸠⹠⺠⻠⽠⾠⿠Ⱡâ â â â â â â â â â â ⹠â â â
Second post, I cut and pasted the same text directly from
Free Republic and got the messed up characters.
************
Interesting. I tried the same and when I copied from FR and inserted into a post
the characters became slanted where they were vertical from where I copied.
It’s the slanted variety that cause the problem. But not sure why if you copy
vertical ones they become slanted but if you type them in they are okay.
Software problem that they’ll eventually get figured out.
Moving on now, please listen to some personal messages.
John has a long mustache.
There is a fire at the insurance agency.
Wound my heart with a monotonous languor.

Just the curly ones. Seriously. Straight quotes should cut and paste fine. Something went haywire after our last systems software upgrade and apparently fouled up the ms-smart character routine.
Hoping John solves the problem soon.
Oh, it's definitely helpful. I don't know how many times I've seen some item posted for the first time, only to find out that it was 'old news'. Wasn't 'old' to me.
I was only trying to let you know that it's a hot topic of discussion as of late. Probably didn't come out quite right ;-)

“Itâs a little time consuming.”
If you’re working in Word, do up a macro that will correct everything with one click.
Thanks for the info Jim.
God Bless.
Oops, looks like I spoke too soon. I cut and pasted that from your note, and it was still corrupted somewhere. Let’s see what happens when I type an “ ‘ “ in.
Oh, well, at least I can correct all the problems with one click after I copy to Word and save to disk.
I agree with you. Thanks.
