lanis Morissette made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s tour after experiencing difficulties as a woman in the music industry during the Nineties.

The Jagged Little Pill singer told The Telegraph, “I turned to women in my 20s and there weren't a lot rushing to my side to support me”.

The 41-year-old recalled “I remember a lot of awkward phone calls I would make for support and they would ask ‘Why are you calling me?!’" (...)

Actually, it would be Ottawa, not Tranna. As a teeny-bopper in Ottawa, she had a little bubblegum, disco hit. She also stared on a kids TV show, also produced there call ‘You Can’t Do That On Television’. I think it even got picked up by Nickelodeon. Then she got a manager who changed her from a cute, happy singer of easily forgotten pop ditties, into an angst-filled singer of songs about hurt, pain and regret.

Today all liberal female performers have to portray themselves (and most other women) as VICTIMS!!! of the dreaded, evil patriarchy. It appears this babe is no different. I haven’t heard her or most of the new singers (male or female) warble, so I really don’t give a good g-d about her problems. Just another whining, deranged femi-nazi.

“...received a then-unprecedented $1 for every copy of Jagged Little Pill that was sold...”

As much money as the record companies want for CDs and the artist doesn’t even get $1 per ?

I read an article she wrote for Glamour magazine a little while ago. It turns out she evokes God and she became a rules girl. She found love and marriage and is trying to teach young women to show lady-like restraint when dating to find a husband. It was written to show she learned her lesson about being clingy and aggressive. It gave me new respect for her and the way she was reaching to those who only knew how to act just like a man in courtship.

Yeah, life is hell when you're a teenage pop star.

(Alanis' 1991 debut album went platinum in Canada and earned her a Juno award and two nominations, and her first three singles charted in the top 40.)

I haven’t thought about that show in years.

If she’s changed into semi-human form, then I’ll take back some of my rude comments. Still not totally convinced,

Christine McGlade (”Moose” on the show) is far more memorable.

This one really floored me because Alanis Morrisette was 100% a protegee of none other than Madonna, who put every bit of her considerable power behind Morrisette at the label, in recording, with A&R, in promotions and even at the station level. Nobody - NOBODY has enjoyed as much "help from women" as Alanis. Without Madonna she would be busking for Poutine money in Toronto.

My guess is the help she is referring to is emotional support/friendship not financial/legal/business support. From what I know about show business, the system seeks to exploit people and does not care about them.

Or! the help may be for Alanis’ career. As she is a has been. Taylor needs no help from anyone. As she is the hottest star, making the most money and, selling the most songs out there. And she has been a star for 9 years now. Taylor can make Apple and Spotify give higher royalties. And she can make or break careers.

This is like Tony Bennett helping out Elvis.

That song about the bad break up, maybe it’s just me, but that song encapsulated pain.

I do not know which song that is, since the moment I hear Alanis, I shut off the radio. But I’m sure I would feel a LOT of encapsulated pain if forced to listen to it all the way through.

;)

We can all be redeemed. I myself identify with fallen women and want to encourage others to seek goodness and light. Jesus be praised.

Thank-you for keeping your mind open to evidence.
