Since I like Christmas music and have a Christmas jazz album I listen to year round, it doesn’t bother me.

However, the early decorations annoy me. Home Depot already has their stuff out.

Wal-Mart had their decorations out in mid-October.

Hobby Lobby has already had their cheap Chinese junk out for 6 weeks or more. Our Navy Exchange was putting it out last Friday.

Some Canadian retailers follow the same rule of thumb as American retailers; that the Christmas ‘shopping season’ begins after Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving is celebrated the second Monday in October, many stores have had Christmas displays up for some time. Since Hallowe’en is over, most other stores will now follow suit.

Curious as to your favorite Christmas jazz album... can you share, please? Thanks!

Home Depot already has their stuff out.”

Noticed that our Dollar Tree put Christmas out at the same time they added things with a Halloween theme. Appears that Thanksgiving has disappeared. Thanksgiving to me has been about family getting together, giving thanks and enjoying each others company for a few hours. Since we no longer have the “old fashioned” family structure it seems to have lost its true importance, except as a merchandising opportunity to kick off the Christmas shopping season.

Noticed that my mailbox has been jammed full of catalogs every day for the past few weeks so decided to track the number. It’s up to 147 thus far and that was only through October 31!

I love Christmas music, carry several CD’s in my car and play them all the time.
